The Cloud Business Development Director is responsible for driving customer engagements, training and assisting the Cadence sales team, coordinating with industry and cloud partners, providing customer requirements to the cloud delivery team, and working with support organization stakeholders for end-to-end business process implementation.

The successful candidate will be an excellent communicator, a strategic thinker, skilled at program management, and comfortable with the ambiguity associated with a new domain like cloud.

A strong background in IC design tools and methodologies combined with an understanding of cloud technologies and business models will allow the individual to identify and execute compelling go-to-market programs.

The role requires an individual who is able to effectively create high level strategies as well as being able to drive implementation of new programs and models inside Cadence.

Responsibilities

Customer Engagement : Prepare and present relevant cloud offering information to Cadence customers. Answer questions. Resolve concerns.

Identify opportunities. Work with AXs to propose cloud solution types and advise sales on the economic factors.

Sales Team Enablement : Prepare cloud offering collateral and train the global Cadence field organization on the various solutions.

Support customer meetings. Evaluate pilot opportunities and advise AXs on success criteria, deployment approach and deal economics.

Track cloud opportunities and provide a sales pipeline. Drive bi-weekly opportunity review meeting with sales, finance and other cloud delivery stakeholders.

Partnerships : Assist in the management of cloud partner relationships and programs. Identify mutually beneficial activities to increase use of Cadence tools on the cloud.

Present the Cadence Cloud story at partner events. Ensure Cadence maximizes the benefits of participation in cloud partner marketing programs.

Cloud Deployment Team Coordination : Provide input and feedback to the cloud solution development team regarding features and capabilities that would be valuable to customers.

Direct the creation of suitable technical demonstrations and videos. Coordinate with technical team members so that they can support public events and customer pre-sales discussions.

Help in the prioritization of projects.

Support Organization Coordination : Work with stakeholders from Marketing, PR, Legal, Finance, Sales Ops, IT and Licensing groups in the definition, creation and support of programs and business systems to enable the end-to-end go-to-market requirements.

Keep all stakeholders apprised of the key program milestones and deliverables.

Candidate Requirements

  • Strong technical foundation and experience with IC design tools and methodologies. Cadence-specific knowledge is highly desirable
  • Solid understanding of customer IT and CAD practices and typical customer priorities and challenges
  • Domain knowledge or experience in cloud computing, cloud deployment models, or cloud technologies and business models is ideal
  • Prior direct experience with cloud vendors or cloud-related companies is desirable.
  • Experience in sales, support or business development roles with regular face-to-face engagements with customers
  • Skilled communicator and presenter who can effectively convey complex topics in an understandable and interesting manner
  • Comfortable presenting to large groups of people at conferences, trade shows and other events
  • Strategic thinker with the ability to also identify and drive implementation details to ensure concepts are grounded in reality
  • Demonstrated ability to work well with dispersed teams and experience in driving results through others using influence instead of direct control
  • Ability to program manage multiple tasks and projects in parallel with good quality and a positive demeanor when under pressure
  • Willingness to support phone meetings with other parts of the world and travel when required to events and customer meetings
  • Self-starter who thrives on the opportunity to create and advocate new concepts and opportunities
  • Proficient with Powerpoint and Excel
