The Proposal Engineer is responsible for coordinating and managing the technical and / or commercial aspects of proposals.
This position will have overall accountability for the technical and commercial offering including bill of materials, Enterprise Estimating Tool (EET) reports, pricing, contractual terms, and writing and assembling the technical and commercial portion of the proposal narrative.
Develop and maintain a solid knowledge of Process Systems and Solutions (PSS), Power & Water Solutions (PWS) and other Business Units products, services and Industry applications.
Responsible for the compilation of services, materials, buyouts, and other proposal components pricing, payment terms, cash flow analysis, commercial compliance and proposal basis terms and conditions.
Aid in the development of the commercial proposal strategy that mitigates project commercial risk exposure and best positions the execution team to allow scope and profitability growth.
Responsible for entering all Technical and Commercial information into EET.
Work with the Technical, Legal, Procurement, other Emerson Divisions, and the Technical Writers to ensure all proposal related information is incorporated into the proposal submission documentation.
Work with proposal team members to develop Risk and Opportunity Assessments and Mitigation Reviews.
Collaborate, communicate and align activities with Latin America SYSS proposal and sales teams to understand customer needs and requirements.
Develop innovative ideas and alternatives to be cost competitive with Proposals
Organize and / or attend internal proposal kick off and review meetings; report on assigned tasks and assumes full ownership of assigned actions.
Work with the Latin America SYSS sales, operations, sourcing, legal team to issue several proposals in parallel.
Be flexible to travel to customer sites as well as to other Emerson Latin America offices for kick-off meetings, clarifications, site surveys, proposal development and review meetings in accordance with the agreed service sales and proposal strategies.
Follow the correct working methods, procedures, tools establish as part of Emerson process and procedures.
Support the development of Junior engineers through technical and work processes training.
Manage the clarification and assumptions and ensure information contained within is properly presented in the proposal narrative to effectively bound scope and supply requirements.
Take ownership of all information required / contained within Emerson’s estimating tools
Complete client required Technical and Commercial formats as necessary.
Assist and Support the Delegation of Authority (DOA) approval presentations.
Ensure the timely and appropriate generation, collection, dissemination, storage, and disposition of proposal information.
Update project and reference databases, libraries, metrics, pricing tools, etc.
Identify and develop best practices for incorporation into corporate standards.
Ensure the implementation of best practices and processes in proposal efforts.
Strong interpersonal and political skills, including aptitude for building relationships.
Understanding team dynamics, taking initiative, and solving problems.
Preparation of KOB1, KOB2 and KOB3 proposals.
Ability to make independent decisions within a general framework, always being aligned with escalation process within the department (Team Lead, Manager, Regional Lead, Directors etc.).
Ability to work with minimal supervision, work based on targets and able to render overtime (if needed) to meet proposal deadlines.

University studies in an Engineering discipline, preferred : Automation, Electronic, Electrical, Telecoms, Electro mechanic, Chemical, others.
2+ years’ experience in a similar position in a commercial or engineering environment (customer support, sales support, technical sales, service engineer);
Advanced knowledge and skills in the Microsoft Office suite of tools.
English language upper intermediate (written and spoken). Portuguese is considered as a plus.
Effective written, verbal, and presentation communication skills.
Good knowledge of Industry Processes or Process Control and Instrumentation is an advantage Business Communication.
Technical writing, detail-oriented and ability to work accurately.
Strong oral, written and interpersonal communication skills.
