To accomplish that, the Long Term Retention Hub is looking for a Power and Performance Engineer.

This opportunity will allow you not only to do something wonderful; but also will give you Corporate level visibility, the opportunity to work with multiple stakeholders around the world, but specially with US.

It is also a flexible position given the scope and type of work but includes working with aggressive and non-negotiable deadlines as well as handling highly sensitive, confidential information.

The position is expected to be a technical leader and a Power and / or Performance subject matter expert.

As a Power / Performance Engineer, the person will be responsible for :

Work with the Senior Technical Teams to understand Power and / or Performance implications of security mitigations in low-level software (such as uCode and BIOS), Operating System, and potentially hardware.

Execute on continuous improvement efforts based on input / interactions with Power and / or Performance Technical Team

Work with Power and / or Performance engineers to understand, execute and track characterization and volume validation test plans with a level of detail sufficient for the Technical Team to evaluate readiness for public patch release.

Facilitate the review of benchmark data and obtain guidance including approval for public patch release from Power and / or Performance perspective, and facilitate the design of follow-up experiments, mitigations, or recommendations as needed.

Identify root cause of Power and / or Performance related issues, propose and test solutions.

Active involvement in validation of current mitigations. This includes managing work carried out by different teams and orgs across Intel

Active involvement in technical discussions of upcoming mitigation efforts and planning for future performance validation activities.

Active involvement in response to customer issues, including replication of issues seen in the field.

Active participation in program management forums related to power and / or performance validation.

Support of ongoing efforts to normalize the effort's program.

Development of technical skills for this work in others.

May need to assertively promote his or her job priorities, and will need to negotiate scope and technical risk to meet deadlines.

This position may need to travel internationally, on occasion, if conditions allows.

  • Qualifications

    You must possess the below minimum qualifications to be initially considered for this position. Preferred qualifications are in addition to the minimum requirements and are considered a plus factor in identifying top candidates.


  • Candidate should have 4 year degree in engineering and / or prolonged course of study in a specialized field or equivalent experience.
  • Technical knowledge in Power and / or Performance to perform analysis related to this area.
  • Experience with software benchmarking, software, and data analysis
  • Additionally, this position requires program management skills, including clearly communicate task breakdowns, track progress against plan, communicate roadblocks and negotiate mitigations.
  • Basic knowledge in Low-level software (uCode, BIOS)
  • Knowledge in Operating systems (Windows, Linux)
  • Basic Programming skills (Scripting, Python, or similar)
  • Basic statistics knowledge or experience
  • Preferred

  • Thermal validation or analysis experience / expertise
  • Experience in server or client products
  • Interest on Intel's Hardware and Software security features and desire to expanding knowledge of CPU microarchitecture and security technologies.
  • 5+ years experience in performance and / or power management, including :
  • An understanding of computer architecture and microcode sufficient to understand potential Power and / or Performance impact of changes.
  • Performance Analysis using tools such as EMON, TypePerf, SEP, or similar.
  • Power analysis using power measurement tools or instrumentation.
  • Familiarity with industry benchmarks, which aspects of power and / or performance they measure and how, how they are perceived in the public domain.
  • Familiarity with Intel Client or Datacenter is highly desirable with knowledge of models, boards, CPUs, OSs, low level software and architecture, etc.
