The challenge

Adobe generated $13B revenue in FY 2020 and has completed $10B in strategic acquisitions since 2018. Our Corporate Development team drives Adobe’s inorganic growth roadmap in conjunction with our CEO, top team, and senior leaders.

We strive to increase shareholder value through exceptional, inorganic opportunities.

Our most acquisitions have been in the digital marketing workflow space with Workfront (closed December 2020; $1.5B Transaction Price) and the video collaboration space with Frame.

io (closed October 2021; $1.275B Transaction Price).

Our most recent investments have been in around the corner’ opportunities with Vidmob, Lucidlink, Skillshare, and Truepic.

We are looking for an exceptional leader who is comfortable thinking at the 100,000 ft altitude as well delving into nuts & bolts.

Ideally, this leader will develop ground-breaking M&A themes, translate corporate strategy initiatives, articulate landscapes, proactively develop a pipeline sourcing approach, and establish operational cadences to pace and measure success.

This individual will also scale the team and capability of running the business of Corporate Development’ by upskilling operations, including establishing appropriate acquisition, portfolio & talent QBRs’ and drive strategic reporting to Adobe’s Ops Staff and Board of Directors.

A successful candidate will naturally identify gaps in M&A strategy, roll-up their sleeves to dig into analysis, zoom out to articulate insights, and define thematic, programmatic approaches to create shareholder value.

Prior operating experience in global, cross-functional, and collaborative environments will ensure your success in this dynamic, high-impact position.

What you’ll do

  • Articulate clear strategic acquisition and investment themes across Digital Experience and Digital Media, including market mapping, understanding of ecosystem & articulation of how the theme compliments or transforms Adobe.
  • Ideate outside-in’ knowledge activities to evolve understanding of market landscapes, industry trends, competition, whitespace opportunities, target segments and emerging companies (e.
  • g., calendar of key conferences, portfolio / theme conversations with banks / VC / PE / Growth Equity, competitive analysis).

  • Build out key Corporate Development operational metrics across sourcing (e.g., companies of interest, interactions / conversations, banker meetings).
  • Define funnel stages and qualification / exit criteria to ensure efficient scaling. Design reporting and operating cadences to track outcomes (e.

    g., annual / quarterly portfolio reviews). Refine and own the M&A Playbook. Develop sourcing playbook.

  • Embrace strategic and operational value capture’ and value realization’ thinking across Corporate Development and M&A Integration (e.
  • g., GTM / ops diagnostics for post-acquisition)

  • Build top-of-funnel content and foster community to generate inbound interest and establish Abobe as a world-class home for founders’ and strategic investor
  • Support & coordinate key aspects of the M&A deal execution’ process (e.g., due diligence, management meetings, integration planning, valuation / ROI / payback).
  • Mentor, onboard and develop direct reports, corp dev team members and extended partners through the deal process, including initial integration planning.
  • Identify, define, optimize needed process and tools.

  • Manage all operational tools and key vendors contracts, including Virtual Data Rooms, CapIQ, Pitchbook, SharePoint, Dynamics, etc.
  • What you need to succeed

  • 15+ years of relevant work experience in strategy consulting, investment banking, corporate development / strategy, private equity (value addition or operational teams).
  • MBA or similar advanced degree from top-tier institution.
  • Exceptional EQ, business intuition and influencing skills. Strong written and spoken communicator. Proven people leadership skills.
  • Maniacal attention to detail. Strong work ethic. Proactive self-starter. Calm and agile in fast-paced, ambiguous environments.
