The Senior CM engineer is the technical expert who is responsible for the engineering, delivery and continuous improvement of the SCM processes, services and tools in a fast paced and dynamic environment.
This individual manages projects independently to provide technical guidance on CM standard methodologies, assist fellow CM engineers and mentor junior staff members.
This person will provide technical leadership and succeed by collaborating with teammates and partners! He or she will be envisioning, architecting, planning, and delivering highly impactful and innovative configuration management and build services, tools, processes and procedures that are aligned with, and support the F5 Product Development organization’s goals and priorities
Analyze and define design requirements for the creation of new and / or modification of existing configuration management and build tools, systems, and environments and collaborate with project teams to determine project scope and effort
Collaborate with multi-functional design teams in the development and management of new configuration management systems, tools, and services, as well as balance design issues and maintenance of existing systems
Lead, mentor, and assist in building and growing a healthy, well performing team where every team member can do their best work
Responsible for upholding F5’s Business Code of Ethics and for promptly reporting violations of the Code or other company policies.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
Strong analysis and problem solving skills, as well as the ability to pragmatically and appropriately apply these skills to the domains of configuration management and build systems
Demonstrated track record of rapid ramp-up in new technical domains with the ability to lead teams in the research and development of innovative solutions to challenging technical problems utilizing the latest software technologies
Duties are performed in a normal office environment while sitting at a desk or computer table.
Duties require the ability to utilize a computer, communicate over the telephone, and read printed material.
May require being on call periodically or working outside normal working hours (evenings and weekends). Duties may require the ability to travel via automobile or airplane, approximately 5% of the time spent traveling.
Occasional need to install computer equipment in racks and replace existing equipment. Equipment includes servers, routers, power supplies, and network appliances
Bachelor degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related field, or equivalent professional experience
Exceptional technical skills with a proven track record of 7+ years in the delivery of configuration and build services in a dynamic, fast-paced environment
A minimum of five years of experience with the following :
Linux / Unix system administration
C, C++, or Java
SCM software systems such as CVS, Git and Perforce
Continuous integration tools such as Jenkins
gmake, ant and other software build dependency tools
Packaging technologies such as RPM and ISO9660
Automation tools and scripting languages such as Perl, bash, Python, Ruby, PHP and their use in web technologies.
Networking technologies; such as NFS, Samba, CIFS
