Job Summary

Laundry Operators are responsible for understanding all process requirements within the industrial laundry and complete tasks daily as assigned by Laundry Leader or Service Supervisor in order to ensure uninterrupted service to VWR laundry customers.

Their primary function will be in VWR laundry.

The Laundry operator will handle and monitor washing and drying machinery.

Work requires the use of some judgment in correctly identifying and processing the several laundry classifications, and for the proper loading and operation of the laundry machines.

MAJOR JOB DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES (List in order of importance)

Laundry operator will complete the following tasks as assigned by the Laundry Lead, Service Supervisor or General Manager

  • Examine and sort into lots articles to be cleaned, according to the type of item, dirt content, and cleaning technique required.
  • Remove stains manually if its required.
  • Count and load items into washers and driers.
  • Start washers and driers, turn valves or levers to regulate machine processes.
  • Remove stains manually if they remain after the washing cycle.
  • Separate damaged items for repairing.
  • Sort and count articles removed from dryers, fold and pack them.
  • Staging of finished laundry.
  • Restock of bulk goods in appropriate storage locations.
  • Industrial Equipment maintenance.
  • Restock of supplies.
  • Ensuring consistent cleanliness of Industrial Laundry area.
  • Performs other duties as assigned.
  • QUALIFICATIONS (Education / Training, Experience and Certifications)

  • High School completion or equivalent (GED) preferred
  • Minimum 1-2 years of laundry experience
  • KNOWLEDGE SKILLS AND ABILITIES (Those necessary to perform the job competently)

  • Team Player
  • Job requires being careful about details in completing work tasks
  • Work effectively & communicate well with others.
  • Complete required training and adhere to all process requirements
