Responsibilities

The person in this position is primarily responsible for purchasing of both inventory and non-inventory goods and services for the Costa Rica manufacturing site.

  • Creates purchase requisitions and issues POs for inventory items per instructions from Planner
  • Fields requests for non-inventory purchases from various departments, identifying suitable sources, negotiating pricing, creating purchase requisitions, and issued POs
  • Manages open POs to ensure accurate due dates are reflected and open balances are resolved promptly
  • Supports Finance via resolution of Purchase Price Variances (PPV) and 3-way match discrepancies
  • In conjunction with the Planner, issues routine supplier schedules for inventory items
  • Monitors supplier delivery to ensure high levels of on-time delivery performance from production component suppliers, driving improvements when needed
  • Expedites POs as necessary while controlling costs
  • Maintains all required purchasing records
  • In coordination with Engineering and QA, coordinates implementation of Change Orders with suppliers
  • Works with suppliers and internal departments in regards to VMI type programs as needed
  • Other duties as assigned
  • Role Requirements

  • 1-5 years of Buyer experience in a regulated industry, medical device preferred
  • Skills and Knowledge

  • Experienced with use of MRP software, QAD preferred
  • Proficient with Microsoft Office’s Word and Excel
  • Fluent in written and verbal English and Spanish
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Business / Finance / Engineering / Operations Management or equivalent work experience
  • Excellent verbal and written communication skills
  • Working knowledge of industry-standard purchasing techniques and practices
  • Understanding of business and financial impact of purchasing decisions
  • Sound judgment and decision making, problem solving, flexibility, assertiveness, resilience, and quality orientation
  • Ability to influence, strong negotiation skills, excellent follow through and organization skills
  • Ability to work in a fast paced and changing environment to accomplish goals while multitasking
  • Ability to manage multiple tasks, with a customer-focused sense of urgency
  • This position resides at the Costa Rica manufacturing site with expected travel of no more than 10%, including possible occasional travel to the US corporate HQ
