As part of the Electrical and Instrumentation Group, the E&I Intermediate Engineer I is responsible for overseeing and performing electrical and instrumentation engineering and related activities associated with PSS projects, based on customer specifications and in line with project strategy and Project Management Office (PMO) guidelines.
Plan and coordinate technical design and engineering activities for automation projects.
Act as project technical lead and be responsible for some project management activities.
Participate in the execution of procedures for factory acceptance testing, site acceptance testing, commissioning and startup activities.
Interface with the customer to determine detail scope definition.
Share technical knowledge with project team, supervisor, own discipline and other engineering disciplines.
Provide technical guidance to drafters and designers.
Supervise project team members from a project standpoint.
Lead implementation of varied-complexity engineering solutions and / or standards, as part of projects that involve electrical and instrumentation design and engineering activities, while complying with budget and schedule requirements.
Understand and follow engineering processes established by Project Management Office (PMO).
When required, perform site visits on new project opportunities to determine available site power and utility / facility constraints, and collect information regarding instrumentation and field wiring.
When needed, perform the function of field engineer, including hands on field work, review of daily work production reports, schedule and budget.
Communicate issues with project manager or construction manager and client as directed by the project manager.
Electrical design tasks may include electrical load calculations, short-circuit and overcurrent protection calculations, transformer and wire sizing, development of electrical equipment and power distribution equipment specifications, preparation of electrical single line drawings, schematics and detail drawings as required.
Other typical design aspects may include preparation of cabinet layouts, mechanical equipment and piping layout, piping and instrumentation diagrams.
Bachelor Degree in Electronic, Electrical, Electromechanical engineering or related field from an accredited university.
4-7 years of relevant experience.
Working knowledge of PLC and / or DCS systems, low voltage and medium voltage principles.
Knowledge of Network equipment, U.S. National Electrical Code.
Working knowledge of industrial power and grounding principles.
Ability to read and understand and develop piping and instrumentation diagrams, loop diagrams, electrical schematics, instrument specifications, instrument location plans, and electrical one-line diagrams.
Strong English communication skills (written and verbal).
Availability to travel for short and long periods of time.

Experience in DCS implementation and signal wiring design is preferred.
Experience in food and beverage, chemical, bio-tech, oil & gas, petrochemical, mining and pharmaceutical industry process is an advantage.
Knowledge of 2D and 3D CAD tools (AutoCAD, Autodesk Inventor, Dassault SolidWorks) is preferred.
