Antenna and RF System Engineer

The ideal candidate will have a proven track record in Antenna Design, Electromagnetics and RF System design with 5+ years of experience in industry.

  • Expert in Electromagnetic simulations using Ansys HFSS, CST and Keysight ADS.
  • Excellent knowledge of Electromagnetic Theories and RF System Design.
  • Demonstrated track record designing antennas for wireless communication systems. Must have designed multiple antennas from concept to production, and be able to characterize antenna gain and radiation pattern.
  • Understanding of system level performance issues such as Link Budgets, Propagation, RF Block and Levels, Transceiver Design and their impact on the link budget.
  • Should be able to analyze a system block and level, from the ADC / DAC’s to the Antennas.

  • Familiar with MIMO antenna systems and WiFi communication standards (802.11 series).
  • Familiar with MATLAB Simulink and SystemVue simulations.
  • Experience in RF / Microwave circuit design and measurements.
  • Recent experience working with all instruments related to RF wireless testing such as Spectrum Analyzers, VNA’s, Keysight WLAN testers, NI WLAN Testers, Litepoint WLAN testers etc
  • General knowledge of industry standards and analog design techniques.
  • General knowledge of FCC and ETSI regulations.
  • Self-driven individual who can plan / coordinate with teams globally and execute projects independently.
  • Responsibilities

    The RF System Engineer will be responsible for Antenna Design for Qualcomm’s latest Wifi Access Points and board level EM simulations of the next generation QCA WLAN products as an individual contributor.

    The candidate will also be called upon to generate RF System Budgets related to Coexistence and Interference, TX and RX KPI’s and block and levels.

    In this role, the RF System Engineer will engage with Hardware and RFIC design teams to define and develop antennas, help define the overall mechanical and RF architecture of the product, and contribute to board implementations by simulating the relevant system performance metrics needed to develop the complete system.

    On occasion the RF System designer may be called upon to meet with customers and explain various aspects of the antenna design, RF system trade offs and considerations etc The role also involves hands-on RF / Microwave measurements and optimizing the RF matching circuits to obtain the required RF performance.

    Master’s, Electrical Engineering or equivalent with 5+ years in industry preferred.

    Physical Requirements

  • Frequently transports between offices, buildings, and campuses up to ½ mile.
  • Frequently transports and installs equipment up to 5 lbs.
  • Performs required tasks at various heights (e.g., standing or sitting).
  • Monitors and utilizes computers and test equipment for more than 6 hours a day.
  • Continuous communication which includes the comprehension of information with colleagues, customers, and vendors both in person and remotely.
