Network Engineer I

The Global Network Engineering organization is seeking a Network Engineer to provide subject matter expertise in support of the Global WAN which spans all business units and regions.

This role will work closely with the Architecture team to order new services, coordinate installs, manage vendors, and ensure delivery on agreed upon dates.

Additionally, this role will be responsible for the configurations necessary to get connectivity established before transitioning to production.

This position will work closely with senior level Architects and be provided the opportunity to expand their knowledge of cutting-edge technologies.

Responsibilities include

  • Coordinate with internal / external teams to order vendor services and manage installs.
  • Attend vendor meetings to collect order status and ensure delivery dates are met.
  • Provide regular updates to internal stakeholders including executive management.
  • Maintain proper documentation including Visio drawings, circuit diagrams, and circuit inventory.
  • Complete hands-on basic configurations for new deployments.
  • Perform verification testing for new service turn-up / activation.
  • Work closely with the Architecture team to transition new services to production.
  • Qualifications

  • Cisco CCNA certification or higher required.
  • Experience with commonly deployed WAN technologies and concepts P2P, MPLS, VRFs, Wave, Internet connectivity, and SONET.
  • Knowledge of Layer 3 technologies, including - IPv4, BGP, OSPF, EIGRP, HSRP, DMVPN, NHRP, and GETVPN.
  • Proven expertise working with Global Telecommunications carriers.
  • 3-5 years of validated experience in managing, provisioning, and installing new services.
  • Ability to write detailed methods of procedure and maintain documentation including the creation of Visio drawings.
  • Experience with hands-on configuration of networking equipment and management tools.
  • Problem solving mentality using internal and / or external resources.
  • Excellent verbal and written communication.
  • Experience with Tangoe preferred.
  • Strong desire to learn new technologies.
