Job Purpose :

Responsible for complex engineering for compute systems and / or storage environments, along with related network considerations and infrastructure applications, whether on-premise or in the cloud.

Ensures builds are consistent with architectural standards and will meet specified needs. Independently makes important decisions regarding engineering, configuration, demo presentations, capacity planning based on infrastructure needs.

Coaching and assist System Engineers and Associate Engineers to meet workload demands. Continually updates skillset and stays abreast of technologies trends and developments.

Working Schedules for the position

Responsibilities :

Designs, configures, and supports demo delivery and complex content delivery to enable business and support organic growth.

Prioritize work, and provides structure and direction to Engineers and Associate Engineers as necessary to meet team commitments.

Coaching and assist with new product lines & technology advancements.

Monitoring workload and acting as a point of escalation for the Systems Engineering team.

Participate in departmental projects in senior leadership / ownership role including the creation, management and implementation of departmental projects.

Knowledge, Skills and Experience :

Experience :

5+ years in a related position.

Skills / Responsibilities :

Provides full support for complex engineering and technical requirements.

Serve as the team’s technical subject matter expert and technical escalation resource.

Interpret and analyze varied and complex information based on customer inquiry to deliver a technical solution.

Minimum Educational / Certifications Requirements :

Engineering Degree or Related field of study required.

Other Education / Certifications preferred :

VMWare VCP-DCV, MCSA : Windows Server 2012 / 2016, Azure Associate, VCSA, ITIL Foundation, LPIC1, HashiCorp Certified : Terraform Associate, AWS Certified Developer - Associate.

All levels require the following knowledge, skills, and abilities :

Possess basic Linux admin skills - Install, package management, service stop / start, load / unload modules etc., manage devices etc.

Building blocks of a Linux based OS.

Basic command lines every SRE should know.

Troubleshooting and concepts on four core resources - CPU, Memory, Disk and Network.

Performance troubleshooting on one or more of the core resources.

Possess Virtualization knowledge - Basics of Hypervisor. Awareness of industry-leading bare-metal Hypervisors.

The purpose and behind the scene working of HA / DRS / vMotion / Storage vMotion / Resource Pool.

Familiar with VMware.

Possess Storage experience - Block vs File; SMB, NFS, S3; IOPS, Block Size ; Raid

Storage Protocols.

How OSes and Hypervisors work with storage.

Tune and improvise based on current role and experience. A VMware admin will not the inner workings of SAN switch and arrays but if they use SAN, he should know what zoning is, masking, WWNN etc.

Able to recognize and attend to important details with accuracy and efficiency.

Able to communicate clearly and convey necessary information.

Possesses strong organizational and time management skills, driving tasks to completion.

Working Conditions :

Professional, office environment.

Occasional non-standard work hours or overtime as business requires.

On-call availability required as necessary.

Consistent non-standard work or overtime as business requires.

Work Shifts starting from 2-4am to 10-12pm CR Time.
