About the role :
In this role you will partner with several functions across the company, acting as the analytics and data science subject matter expert supporting the audit team at eBay.
You will bring to bear data to help Audit identify and size gaps in eBay’s existing processes and controls, flag improvement opportunities and validate the timely resolution of issues raised as part of audits.
Your work will be embedded in audit reports that are socialized with the eBay’s leadership team, including the CEO, and will have a clear and significant impact on the company.
Key Responsibilities :
Lead Internal Audit teams in the ideation and identification of relevant analytics based on audit objectives
Be a thought leader in data analytics and solve complex problems and apply analytical skills to meet audit objectives
Lead data-heavy audit tests that require end to end approach (design testing approach, perform analytics and socialize test results) across finance, operations, and technology audits.
Act as the data subject matter expert during audit interviews and help the audit team ask the right questions to gather the information needed to perform effective analytics.
Proactively and constructively question the status quo, inspire change across the organization to reduce corporate risk and improve customer experience.
Follow up on the remediation of issues identified as part of analytics testing. Validate that the responsible teams corrected the gaps within the agreed timeframes.
Develop and cultivate relationships with partners across the organization (Risk, Analytics, Engineering, Finance etc.).
Bachelor’s degree in Math, Statistics, Engineering, or other quantitative discipline.
8+ years of experience in data analytics, data science or related field with a Bachelors degree Or 6+ years of experience with a Masters degree.
Experience initiating and driving projects to completion with minimal mentorship.
Excellent SQL skills. Experience with other programming / scripting languages to extract / manipulate datasets preferred (Python, R, Julia etc.).
Intellectual curiosity and ability to deal with ambiguity, balancing attention to detail and big picture vision.
Ability to effectively work cross functionally and communicate quantitative insights to both technical (analytics, engineering, finance, etc.
and non-technical audiences (Legal, HR, Marketing, etc.) across all seniority levels.
Willingness to get out of your comfort zone, continuously learn about new business functions, datasets, and tools.
Previous experience working with eBay’s data and good understanding of eBay’s business is strongly preferred.
Previous exposure to Audit or Risk Management is desirable but not a requirement.
