The Cadence Tensilica Processor CPU Core is used in high performance blocks of complex SoC's. This is one of the best kept secrets within the semi IP world powering AR / VR, HiFi Audio and Speech, Vision, Imaging and hundreds of intelligent IoT applications.

The Tensilica processor is the next generation embedded core that will meet the demands of the Edge of ML and AI.

This is an opportunity to join the Tensilica Systems Application Engineering group. This group is responsible for deep technical support in the areas of processor architecture, application-specific ISA extensions, and system modeling.

What you’ll be doing :

  • Develop processor instruction sets and extensions atop Xtensa processors for a wide-ranging set of user applications.
  • Develop coprocessors and accelerators alongside Xtensa processors.
  • Develop embedded (C / C++) software kernels for user extensions, coprocessors, and accelerators.
  • Create models using SystemC for performance benchmarking and evaluating performance to various architectural tradeoffs.
  • Create customer collateral in the form of examples, application notes, and demos to showcase Tensilica technology.
  • A good fit for this role is interested in one or more of the following :

  • RISC microprocessor ISA design
  • System modeling
  • Embedded systems and real-time software development, both with and without an RTOS
  • Minimum background :

  • Masters in Computer Science, Computer Engineering, or similar
  • C programming experience
  • Verilog RTL design experience
  • Classes / project work / exposure to the following areas : Computer architectureCompilersEmbedded systems (bonus if you are familiar with debugging on HW over JTAG + GDB)
  • Preferred background :

  • C++ or OOP experience
  • Classes / project work / exposure to the following areas : Neural networksReal-time embedded systems development
