Job Description :

3M is seeking an SAP-GTS SME IT Analyst for the Information Technology / Corporate Staffing Group.

The SAP-GTS SME IT Analyst will be responsible for supporting the business processes in SAP GTS area including requirements definition, data integrity, testing, training, and reporting.

The applicant will bring STRONG Technical knowledge of SAP and / or working knowledge in associated business process areas.

The IT Business Analyst must have the ability to perform SAP configuration troubleshooting independently while working effectively across 3M’s SAP Support and Global IT Organizations when required.

You will be a self starter with strong communication skills and the motitvation to become a key participant in 3M’s global deployment of SAP.

Handles a variety of non-routine and difficult inquiries. Has a considerable impact on the direct work group / team, providing coaching and leadership to co-

workers. May provide work direction for other IT Analysts including contract workers.

Performs complex research and analysis as well as investigates business needs with respect to information management. Directs and coordinates efforts to maintain and upgrade current systems.

Most senior level position. Does not carry any people management responsibility.

Principal Accountabilities

  • Perform configuration analysis across SAP GTS (Global Trade Services) module and associated integration points.
  • Provide functional knowledge for the applications supported by 3M’s IT support organization and associated business processes.
  • Ability to resolve complex business requirements via SAP GTS configured solutions
  • Develop functional specifications and guide the development of those programs within the development team.
  • Work with business and IT leadership to define user requirements, and translate them to functional specifications.
  • Accountable for end to end resolution process of incidents; track and monitor them trough ITIL incident management methodology : correct escalation to upper support levels, handover to other GSCs, priority management, correct log documentation, others.
  • Accountable for end to end resolution process of problem and change records; track and monitor them trough ITIL methodology.
  • Provide global SAP GTS administration
  • Collaborates as needed with other SAP IT support team members on configuration design questions and analysis
  • Facilitates interactions and escalations with appropriate groups (e.g. 3M Solution teams, Global Infrastructure, Integration points etc)
  • Meet or exceed established 3M Support Service Level Agreement (SLA) and KPI’s.
  • Update procedures, operation instructions, and any other documentation impacted by system changes.
  • Must be able to travel internationally if needed
  • Off hours on-call support and flexible scheduled is required.
  • Document every case when it’s necesariy : Knowledge Management articles, OneNotes, others.
  • Active participation in weekly and monthly process and team meetings.
  • Adther to Lean Six Sigma methology 3M requirements.
  • Adapts differing techniques and methods to deal with variations in work conditions and operations to solve complex problems.
  • Leads the development and implementation of improvements and / or solutions to work processes and tools. Reports to supervisor / manager / global IT Lead on key milestones and critical business initiatives, including Metrics control .

    When necessary, the supervisor is consulted for guidance in problem areas.

  • Initiates actions and leads or coaches employees during a project or trains / mentors new employees within functional disciplines within GTS field .
  • When leading projects, accountable for the activities and outcomes of the project team. Writes project plans, linking projects to business strategies.

    May provide input on performance of team members.

  • Handles a wide variety of non-routine and difficult inquiries where the solution is not immediately apparent. Most complex problem solving may require developing solutions for complex and diverse issues that may be interrelated, requiring significant interpretation and the use of strong analytical skills.
  • Applies extensive experience and knowledge of related and non-related precedents and policies.

  • Has a considerable impact on the direct work group / team, providing coaching and leadership. Decisions may affect the operational effectiveness of multiple work groups or teams, important programs in GTS area , the next higher organizational tier, and / or related activities within the direct functional area.
  • Indluding Agile tasks likeScrum Master if it s required .

  • Work tasks encompass concepts within multiple disciplines / practices which may include more than one department / location.
  • Working tasks might include :

    o Manages the proposal and implementation of system solutions ( for GTS area )

    o Provides technical support and guidance in all aspects of design and development

    o Studies existing systems to evaluate effectiveness and develops new systems to improve workflow as required

    o May oversee non-routine and difficult work conducted by colleagues (both internal and external resources) e. Provides training on information technology infrastructure and / or applications and stays abreast of the latest developments in the assigned area of responsibility

    o Troubleshoots the most complex technical problems to resolve user issues

    o Leads detailed physical design of the computer processes, files and / or data bases, from a user standpoint

    o Considers the impact of any changes on current systems and develops risk analysis

    o In case of necessary writes project plans and leads projects, linking project steps to business strategies. Ensures plans support business needs and goals and that project objectives and deadlines are met.

    Assembles and leads project teams. Presents project recommendations to appropriate personnel that demonstrate sound planning in support of business needs and goals

  • Incumbent typically communicates with internal and external clients on a medium to lower level, such as department heads and occasionally area / business leaders.
  • As an expert, the employee also provides consulting assistance to senior management.

  • Negotiates and counsels at an advanced level with an audience which may not be knowledgeable in the subject area. Demonstrates solid persuasion skills and manages differing interests and perspectives.
  • Actively participates in relevant corporate programs / initiatives related to GTS , complies with professional and quality standards, complies with corporate policies and procedures, and acts in a manner consistent with 3M’s values and ethical standards.
  • Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree or equivalent work experience.
  • Minimum of 3-5 years experience working with SAP GTS as a technica l resource (IT) or key user.
  • SAP GTS business experience is a plus.
  • Technical skills in SAP SD and SAP MM with high knowledge in Purchase Orders and Sales Orders with Customs Processes associated will be also considered.
  • Preferred

  • Minimum 5-6 yrs business process design and / or redesign.
  • Understanding of integration points between master data solutions and SAP ECC.
