Your Role

Practice Area Leaders must have deep knowledge and expertise in project delivery and thought leadership to partner with our clients and project teams to deliver best-in-class strategy and design.

Gensler's Costa Rica office is seeking a leader known in the market to grow and build our client relationship base in our Residential Practice Area.

This position will be based out of the Costa Rica office, if not from the area you must be willing to relocate.

What You Will Do

  • Lead the creation of strong book of business for a range of residential project types in a variety of settings, including high-rise, mid-rise, mixed-use, multi-family, and affordable housing.
  • Develop, communicate, and act on a practice area game plan which includes market positioning, revenue projections, and managing marketing spend, while maintaining a backlog of work and a pipeline of market opportunities across the LATAM region.
  • Coordinate client management, project organization and start-up, and the development of new business in the Residential Practice Area
  • Continuously develop and explore the business by leveraging relationships among those in the Residential (multi-family) sector, community leaders, and stakeholders
  • Seek to leverage the capabilities of the Firm in the and help build the practice within what is recognized as the firm’s Community Sector by collaborating with other Residential Practice Area leaders
  • Collaborate with Residential Practice Area Leadership to develop a standard of practice that addresses the unique requirements of this practice area
  • Develop opportunities to work across multiple practices and protocols to offer internal advisory services to appropriate projects
  • Provide technical guidance and innovative solutions to resolve complex technical and design challenges
  • Recruit, develop, and mentor staff on projects
  • Your Qualifications

  • Bachelor’s or master’s degree in Architecture
  • At least 15+ years in an architectural practice with ample residential wood frame, multi-family residential projects experience
  • Licensed Architect with Knowledge of United States building codes including Fair Housing Laws & Guidelines and ADA
  • Possess an existing network of connections to clients, brokers, landlords, and consultants in the Residential / Mixed Use sector
  • Understanding of Net Zero Carbon development concepts, LEED, and EDGE certification
  • Proven leadership and management skills, including the ability to develop collaborative relationships that lead to successful results, within the firm and externally with clients, consultants, and other key participants in the design and development process.
  • Proven sensibility to the design process and ability to interpret and develop creative and technically proficient solutions to design challenges
  • A commitment to the principles of sustainable design and experience integrating them on specific projects
  • Demonstrated commitment to sustainability and sustainable building practices required; Portfolios should include at least 3 projects with this particular focus, and candidates should be prepared to talk to this in their interview, especially built projects with LEED, Living Building Challenge, WELL Building Standard, Fitwell and / or Net Zero Building certification
  • Knowledge of and comfort using Autodesk Revit, AutoCAD, Bluebeam Revu, SketchUp, 3ds Max, Adobe Creative Suite (Photoshop, InDesign, Illustrator), and MS Office
  • Experience leading teams of at least 15 people and complex project delivery
  • Familiar with residential development cycles both on for sale and rental products
