This is a full-time position in San Jose Laboratory, Sony Research and Development Center, US. The position is responsible for research and development of wireless technologies that will sustain future Sony products, applications, and services.
Responsibilities include :
Assessment and improvement of leading wireless technology
Invention of new technologies, writing invention disclosures
In-depth investigation on diverse technical information including conference papers, design document, standard specifications, etc.
System level or link level analysis and verification of improvement through computer simulations
Engaging with standard bodies and making technical contributions
In this role you will be a part of a forward-looking growing wireless technology and standardization team. You will identify blocking factors and problems that prevent the technology from making contributions to the industry and derive solutions together with your team members in the premise and with your global colleagues from other countries.
QUALIFICATIONS :

Must have at least 5+ years of related work or research experience
Excellent wireless communication background including all system or link level aspects
Strong Mathematical and problem-solving skills
Experience on wireless LAN (IEEE802.11) MAC / PHY layers protocol design and / or analysis is highly preferred. A good knowledge of wireless LAN protocol is required.
Experience on standard development (WLAN (802.11be / 11ax / 11ac,..), 3GPP (RAN1 / RAN2), etc.) is highly preferred. Track record of high impact contributions is a strong plus
Experience on link level or system level simulation (, ns-3, OPNET) is required
Experience on wireless LAN systems, cellular systems, sensor network technologies, distributed networking technologies, or wireless PAN systems with excellent research record is preferred
Experience on cross-layer system design is a plus
Excellent Programming language knowledge, such as Matlab, C / C++, Python is required
Experience in version control tools () is preferred
Experience on millimeter waves or Terahertz waves (mmWave, 5G NR, 802.11ad / ay) technologies with excellent research record is a plus
Excellent oral and written communications skills. Ability to lead technical discussions for new features, drive consensus, and capture the results in writing in the form of designs, models, and requirements
Must be able to travel domestically and internationally if required
