As a High Performance Computing Engineer you will be based in San José, Costa Rica. You will be working at Roche Global Shared Service Center, which is one of the Roche Shared Services Centers worldwide providing IT, Finance, Procurement services to various countries in the Americas region
In this role you will be reporting to Manager Role.
You are a skilled High Performance Computing Engineer who enjoys and thrives in solving a wide range of business problems with technology in creative and effective ways.
You participate in developing technology solutions that may impact multiple functions in the organization.
You have in-depth knowledge in the IT Scientific Infrastructure solution area. You have a high-level understanding of how the IT infrastructure you are responsible for impacts Roche business processes.
You apply a complete understanding of theories and concepts from one’s technical / professional discipline to independently address a broad range of difficult problems.
You contribute to delivery in challenging projects which require deep technical knowledge and skills in your areas of responsibility.
You are responsible for the completion of milestones associated with specific projects.
Job Responsibilities :
To contribute to the end-to-end design of infrastructure solutions and the creation and maintenance of related component standards
To produce and maintain sufficient documentation for the designs, design patterns, and related component standards created or maintained
To interact with senior internal and external stakeholders on significant technical matters as it relates to organizational objectives
To evaluate promising solutions / technologies across two or more areas within their infrastructure solution area and their feasibility in meeting Roche’s business needs
To architect (as solution architect), design, build, test and implement (first-time deployments) integrated, resilient and reliable solutions in respective solution area
To lead technically small project teams, mentor / lead individuals in workgroup and provide guidance to less experienced personnel
To ensure designs and solutions in their respective infrastructure solution area align and adhere to the organization’s Technical Architecture Framework (TAF) policies, standards and direction
To provide technical recommendations and contributes to position papers, white papers and best practices for the infrastructure solutions and the use cases for their respective solution areas
To stay aware of operational challenges and opportunities; works with support team staff to provide internal escalation support as needed
To ensure solutions and components implemented comply Quality / Regulatory standards, as applicable

Industry Certifications for the Infrastructure Solution Area desired
Education / Years of Experience :
5 7 Years of relevant work experience
or 3 5 Years with Bachelor’s degree
At least 3+ years experience of working in one or more multinational work environment (Healthcare Industry experience a plus) as an Engineer / Technical team member
Technology Skills :
Strong background in Linux / Unix Server technologies (RedHat, CentOS, Ubuntu plus Satellite / Foreman).
Experience designing and implementing solutions that enable automated deployments of Linux / Unix servers on a large scale (ie Bright Cluster Manager).
Experience designing and implementing Linux / Unix High Performance Clusters (HPC) configurations and workload managers (ie SLURM)
Experience with automation / configuration management using either Ansible, Puppet or an equivalent.
Knowledge of hardware accelerators (GPUs, etc.) and libraries (ie CUDA)
Knowledge of advanced file systems such as GPFS, ZFS or Gluster
Experience coding and scripting (Python, Perl and / or Ruby) including the usage of distributed version control and source code management tools (ie GIT : bitbucket, github)
Experience leading, designing and implementing continuous deployment pipelines and Infrastructure as Code solutions.
Experience on leading, designing and implementing Test Driven Infrastructure environments.
Knowledge of best practices and IT operations in an always-up, always-available service.
Knowledge of Scrum and Agile methodologies.
Knowledgable about networking at the physical level and configuration level (gbE, 10GB, InfiniBand, Etc.)
Expert Certification in several areas of expertise of the domain is desired
