Business Summary

Corporate FP&A team is responsible of driving company-wide planning, reporting and financial strategy to help the business meet or exceed our goals.

Our team covers the areas of Bookings, Revenue, Spending / P&L, Cash Flow and Long-Term Planning, with a distributed team located in United States, Costa Rica, and India.

Job Role and Responsibility

We are seeking a talented, motivated, and proven leader to guide VMware’s financial decision-making within FP&A function.

Your scope will span multiple impactful areas, including P&L Consolidation, OPEX, COGS, CAPEX and Headcount planning. You will provide financial insights and strategic recommendations to the VMware business partners and help our team drive toward our desired business and financial outcomes.

  • People management : Coach, mentor and lead a team of analysts to drive Spending and P&L reporting and analysis.
  • Business partnering : Partner closely with VMware’s functional leaders. Advise on capital and operating investment opportunities, trade-offs, resource prioritization, risks, all with a mind-set to optimize the company’s performance and improvement of key financial metrics.
  • Present solutions to on demand questions from different business partners. Engage with different stakeholders to drive business processes and ad-hoc projects.

  • Annual and short-term planning. Responsible for financial planning covering operating expenses and headcount both annually and quarterly.
  • Clearly frame to prioritize new investments, efficiency opportunities.

  • Manage operational investments and expenses. Proactively support business in making major operational expense decisions by analyzing cost drivers, providing key financial assumptions, creating models to support budget negotiation, and advising on trade-offs all with a mind-set to optimize the company’s performance.
  • Conduct strategic analysis. Provide ad-hoc analytics for stakeholders. Manage deep-dives into spending categories to identify optimization opportunities for both Internal and External functions.
  • Develops frameworks that shape decisions & provide insights.

  • Spending reporting. Lead key close consolidation activities and coordinate with the team to drive Quarter-end reporting as well as Guidance deliverables.
  • Processes : Coordinate cross-functional processes with Accounting, Business Units and other related parties with a continuous improvement mindset.
  • Required Skills :

  • 8-10+ years’ experience in Finance. Bachelor’s Degree in Finance, Accounting or Business.
  • Proven expertise leading teams creating high morale and high engagement environments while coaching & developing the talent.
  • Strong leadership and cross-functional teaming skills in alignment with VMware’s EPIC2 values.
  • Skilled at building relationships with business partners, builds reputation as a trusted advisor for Executive partners.
  • Excellent analytical, problem-solving, and financial modeling capabilities.
  • Strong ability to independently manage and prioritize multiple work-streams in a highly deadline-driven environment.
  • Organized and detail-oriented.
  • Excellent written and verbal communication skills.
  • Preferred Skills :

  • Experience working within a fast-paced high-tech organization.
  • Knowledge of Hyperion and SAP.
  • MBA preferred
  • Intellectual curiosity, a deep growth mindset, and the desire to constantly improve.
  • Passion to develop talent.
  • Skilled at developing presentations for executive level audience.
  • Ability to drive process improvements, lead and streamline everyday tasks and cross-functional teams activities.
