POSITION SUMMARY : Responsible for the development of accurate and timely master production schedules for specified product lines in order to meet service requirements and inventory objectives.

ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES :

  • Develops and maintains the master production schedule by combining the sales forecast, set forecast, new product launches, backlog, capacity availability and lead time.
  • As part of the S&OP process, conducts supply meetings to ensure schedule adherence, service levels and inventory targets are met.
  • Communicates risks and elevates issues that require management resolution.

  • Verifies that demand plans are reflected accurately through the master schedule and the detailed schedule.
  • Lead the planning process for new product launches during the pre-launch phase
  • Responsible for balancing capacity among qualified suppliers and internal manufacturing.
  • Performs root cause analysis of service shortfalls and develops and communicates corrective actions. Manage product phase-outs such that obsolete inventory is minimizedSCOPE OF RESPONSIBILITIES : For funds, Costs or Profits : Will be responsible for controlling company assets in excess of $70 million in the form of finished goods inventory.
  • For Internal and External Relationships : Daily contact with members from Marketing, Sales, Manufacturing, Demand Planning and Distribution at manager and director, level.

    Requires securing of information and explaining data to personnel of higher rank. Requires tact to avoid misunderstanding where improper handling could affect results.

    For Organization Influence : The scope of responsibility covers global factory inventory for the Othopaedic division. Has direct influence on inventory turns and product availability.

    LIMITS OF AUTHORITY : Plans and executes policy under general guidelines. Regularly make decisions requiring the exercise of judgment.

    Independent judgment is required in the planning of work and in the making of important decisions where alternatives are limited and / or where company policies and guidelines provide little guidance.

    Manager of Inventory Planning and Deployment approves major decisions. QUALIFICATION REQUIREMENTS : To perform this job successfully, an individual must be able to perform each essential duty satisfactorily.

    LOCATION : Memphis, TNEDUCATION : BS / BA degree in Logistics, Operations, Statistics, Finance or other related field. Equivalent experience will be considered in lieu of degree.

    EXPERIENCE : Minimum of 4 years of experience in manufacturing, inventory planning, distribution or purchasing. Minimum of 3 years of experience using an advanced planning system (i.

    e. i2, APO or Manugistics) or MRP software.Must have thorough understanding of supply planning and MRP concepts.Must have good working knowledge of PC application and software (i.

    e. MS Office including Excel, Access, Word and Power Point) Must have strong analytical skillsMust be able to plan, coordinate, prioritize and manage multiple projectsMust have good presentation and communication skillsCERTIFICATIONS : APICS certification is desirable.
