Your Role

We are looking for an experienced Director who is passionate about giving back to support and manage extensive philanthropy work around the Cadence Giving Foundation and our efforts to engage employees in the community.

As the Director, you will be responsible for growing and positioning the Cadence Giving Foundation as a best-in-class foundation.

  • You will lead corporate philanthropy, employee community engagement, and help put signature programs in place to support diversity, equity, and inclusion (DEI);
  • STEM education and career opportunities; and climate and sustainability.

    You will guide the Foundation’s philanthropic efforts and provide strategic and impactful leadership relating to the company’s efforts for meaningful philanthropic giving.

    You will share thought leadership with the Foundation Board of Directors, Officers, and Advisory Committee to help drive high impact giving initiatives and ensure the success of the signature programs.

    You will be the face of Cadence’s commitment to social responsibility and impact internally and externally.

    This position will be part of the HR team to align with HR’s DEI and sustainability efforts for the company. They will also have one staff initially to help establish solid grant-making guidelines and procedures, plan and implement employee engagement initiatives and company giving campaigns, manage ongoing engagements with nonprofit partners, and manage our volunteer time off and matching gifts programs.

    Strategy

  • Contribute to developing and articulating the Cadence Foundation’s core purpose, mission and strategy
  • Create and implement a multi-year strategy for growing the Foundation’s social impact and philanthropic investments
  • Design and manage the Foundation’s signature programs that complement Cadence’s core business, and leverage Cadence’s core competencies and assets, including engaging employees in the Foundation’s activities and tracking social impact in the employee lifecycle
  • Partnership

  • Understand the landscape of impact design entities (nonprofit organizations, social enterprises, funders, universities) and identify priority organizations with whom to partner
  • Partner with key internal stakeholders to craft, update and manage grant agreements and budgets, including fielding questions and monitoring contractual compliance
  • Manage Cadence’s current partnerships with organizations like Girls Who Code and Team4Tech
  • Develop a strong network of leaders, advocates, and partners within and external to Cadence
  • Travel, and work closely with, grantees as needed to help them be successful
  • Employee Engagement

  • Define ways to harness the passion and expertise of our employees to make a significant difference in our communities through volunteering, pro bono, board service and giving
  • Manage company giving campaigns, volunteer time off, and matching gifts
  • Operations

  • Build key budgets including operational budget
  • Design emergency response planning philanthropy strategy
  • Oversee daily operations and management of Foundation’s signature programs and staff, and ensure compliance with applicable laws, regulations, and requirements for private foundations
  • Communications

  • Manage communication with the Foundation Board of Directors, Officers, Advisory Committee, and engage Cadence’s executives and Board as necessary
  • Develop comprehensive internal and external communication strategies to drive impact for societal issues, corporate social responsibility, employee engagement, DEI, and community building.
  • Serve as a spokesperson for Cadence on behalf of the Foundation in diverse forums with community leaders, advocates, and influential stakeholders
  • Measurement and Evaluation

  • Build a measurement framework and dashboard to track and report on global engagement metrics to demonstrate our impact on employees and in our communities
  • Benchmark best practices and report current trends in corporate foundations and giving programs so that Cadence develops leading edge, best-in-class results
  • Measure and communicate social impact of the Foundation to stakeholders via annual report, ESG report, storytelling, gallery exhibits, etc.
  • and provide regular updates to key internal stakeholders

    Required Qualifications

  • 10+ years in corporate social responsibility, corporate philanthropy, grant-making, social impact programs, and / or program management
  • Experience in working with impact organizations (nonprofits, NGO, social impact startups, foundations, impact driven corporations, etc.)
  • Experience in foundation operations, legal expectations, and compliance in a corporate foundation setting
  • A proven track record of successfully managing external partners and grant portfolios with global organizations
  • Customer-oriented with a high degree of integrity, autonomy, personal initiative, and agility
  • Consistently shown success in developing a social impact investment agenda and measurement framework in a high-growth company
  • Success in developing signature programs to drive social impact in new areas not developed in the industry
  • Experience consulting and navigating multi-stakeholder audiences including internal business partners and large-scale non-profit organizations
  • Proven experience translating social impact programs into compelling storytelling and marketing opportunities
  • Excellent verbal, written, and presentation communication skills
  • Preferred Qualifications

  • Experience leading corporate impact at a technology company with global reach is ideal
  • Proven track record managing DEI, STEM education, and sustainability issues a bonus
