We are seeking a Systems Test Engineer in our advanced manufacturing facility with experience developing automated test and systems for mechanical and solid-state Lidar sensors.
Design system level automated test system from concept to release
Write clear, concise, and self-documenting code, in Python and / or C# / C++
Develop algorithms for 3D point cloud analysis and processing
Understanding of Lidar systems testing
Strong problem-solving skills, attention to detail, good communication skills (both written and verbal) and the ability to produce quality results in a timely fashion are also essential attributes
Design, integrate, document and sustain automated test equipment for Lidar sensors
Design and develop software components for multi-threaded CLI and / or GUI applications to test for sensor performance
Write test plan, test process and procedure, compile test data, and provide DFT / DFM inputs to R&D team
The candidate must possess the ability to analyze existing test process and procedures for automation and continuous improvements
Perform statistical data analysis with production test data and provide daily disposition and yield assessments, and improvements of mature products
Ensure factory lines are up, running, and resolve any production test issues in a timely manner
Work with the FA team to perform failure analysis and determine the root cause
Required Skills and Experience :
B.S. degree in electrical, software, mechanical or optical engineering
1-3 years test station design and bring-up experience working with Lidars and its components
Good knowledge of electronics and circuits, various bench test systems (i.e. oscilloscopes, logic analyzers, and various meters) is desirable
Good knowledge of software development skill interfacing with COTS test equipment
Experience with engineering applications such as Visual Studios, Git and Atlassian tools
Preferred Skills and Experience :
M.S. degree in electrical, software, mechatronics or equivalent engineering
Proven track record of delivering production ready automated test solutions for Lidar sensors
Proficient in 3D point cloud processing
Proficient in sensor calibration algorithm, methods and processes
SYSTEMS TEST ENGINEER
The Systems Test Engineer position in the advanced manufacturing group will be the point of contact and owner for developing and executing the system level testing activities in support of all Velodyne’s Lidar products.
Candidate must have good understanding of test system architecture to deliver scalable automated test system for manufacturing.
He / she must show proven experience in testing electronics and electrical components. The candidate will be a self-starter with minimal day-to-day supervision in working with multiple interdisciplinary engineering groups for delivery of testing results, monitoring and reporting weekly progress of planned tasks, developing, integrating and improving test procedures and plans, as well as having the initiative and sense of ownership to follow up on action items to resolution.
