Habitat for Humanity International (HFHI) is currently seeking a talented professional for the role of a Translator. This individual will be responsible for translating all kind of different documents, messages, communications materials, and any other resources needed, ensuring fluency in transmitting the original message by providing the information in the parameters of the original version, respecting the style, ideas and facts provided in the original language, maintaining the meaning and allowing the language to flow in a natural and error-free way, while also following HPH brand narrative and style.
It is also in charge of developing and defining the Spanish translation terminology to ensure consistency in communication across the region.
This position will be based in San Jose, Costa Rica.
Key Responsibilities :
Translation of global strategy and change communications materials including but not limited to e-mails, documents, and presentations
Support for weekly internal communications efforts across the Latin American and Caribbean network
Development and refinement of Spanish terminology for English internal change language to ensure consistency in communications across the region
Read relevant material and research industry-specific terminology for a better understanding in translation processes
Ensuring that translated content conveys the original meaning and tone
Prepare subtitles for videos and online presentations
Use all the necessary resources to ensure an effective translation, minimizing grammatical, spelling, or punctuation errors
Follow up with internal team members and clients to make sure the translation meets their needs
Edit content in order to keep its original format (e.g. font and structure)
Maintain contact with experts in the field to keep abreast of new translation tools and practices
Support all Area Office needs regarding translation for different events, meetings, announcements, etc.
Key Requirements :
Linguistics degree is desirable
4 years of related professional experience
Fully bilingual : English and Spanish
Outstanding oral and written communication skills, with excellent interpersonal presentation
Teamwork and detail oriented
Highly collaborative convener of key stakeholders across the organization
Good relationship building skills
Experience in multi-cultural environments
