Description Field Engineer responsible for successful startup and commissioning of steam and combustion turbine across the United States Responsibilities
Become as knowledgeable as possible on turbine products and controls in as short a period of time as possible, primarily thru existing training programs and individual concerted effort.
Analyze and solve engineering problems associated with turbine field installation and operation of control systems and / or control equipment.
Independent assignments typically involve situations where total system function has been previeously established.
Assist in carrying out more complex turbine engineering startup assignments under the direction of more senior field engineering personnel.
Provide instruction to customer personnel as needed for those tasks usually assigned within this position's responsibilities.
Be the primary interface with the customer, develop and maintain good customer relations on assigned tasks with empasis on total customer satisfaction.
Participate in the writing, review, and revision of field related and / or operational procedures associated with turbine startup products and services.
Provide complete and timely reports on all activities with emphasis on defining problems encountered, services rendered, and customer reation to the supplied product and services.
Demonstrate the ability to understand and follow a set of installation, calibration and testing instructions
Equipment testing and inspection
Provide technical direction to craft labor at industrial sites
Participate in Project Engineering activities or other commissioning services like Boiler or Combined Cycle startups when required
Requirements Preferred knowledge and experience :
Demonstrable expertise and experience with combustion turbine fuel control, sequencing, and protection philosophies.
Advanced troubleshooting, problem-solving, decision-making, and planning skills.
Excellent language and communication skills, both verbal and written required. Ability to write reports, business correspondence, and commissioning documents.
Ability to effectively present information and respond to questions from groups of managers, clients and customers. Ability to interface with vendors, sub-
contractors and union labor.
Ability to define problems, collect data, establish facts, and draw valid conclusions.
Ability to interpret an extensive variety of technical instructions in mathematical or diagram form.
Combustion Turbine Generation process knowledge (e.g. Speed and Load control, Fuel Governor, Sequencing and Auxiliaries, BOP, HRSG, Combined Cycle, Cogeneration, AGC, Isochronous and Droop controls, etc.).
Proficiency with ISA and SAMA logic symbols, Process & Instrumentation Diagrams (P&IDs), electrical, mechanical, and hydraulic schematics.
Experience with designing and implementing control system configuration changes.
Proficiency with configuring database, logic and HMIs of one or more DCS platforms (e.g. Emerson Ovation, ABB / Bailey INFI 90, Siemens T3000, GE Mark VI, Mitsubishi DIASYS Netmation, Invensys, Woodward Micronet etc.).
The position requires a BS in electrical, mechanical, chemical engineering or equivalent with a minimum of eight years experience in field engineering, project engineering, technology or related field.
The position requires up to 80% travel.
