Our team is chartered with educating technical decision makers, architects, and engineers around the company to implement solutions effectively and efficiently using our data platform.

In this role, you will collaborate with multiple teams inside Microsoft to create high quality developer documentation and code samples.

You'll get a chance to learn about the range of services and their best practices, as well as work with product teams and community members.

Examples of our deliverables have included :

Written guidance Conceptual and how-to guidance, narratives reflecting platform adoption, architectural design, and the entire software development process, associated patterns, and tradeoffs that arise from technical decisions.

Samples and reference implementations Code samples and real-world examples of typical application architectures.

Community engagement Active participation in our internal developer and data science community.

Responsibilities

Our guidance addresses a wide array of topics, ranging from infrastructure, application development, compliance & security, to big data.

Being able to quickly learn about new technologies and practices is critical. Also, you will need to be able to :

  • Write and edit adoption, architecture, and solution content for internal developers and data scientists.
  • Develop code samples in .NET or Python.
  • Collaborate with PM, design, and engineering teams to co-author content.
  • Help define writing projects, content design, and customer journeys.
  • Independently follow designs and standards to develop and deliver guidance.
  • Conduct peer edits for grammar, style, and form.
  • Help assess community feedback and content performance on adoption of our content.
  • Collaborate across organizational boundaries to deliver relevant content to our audience.
  • Qualifications

    Required Qualifications :

  • A minimum of 2-4 years in a technical writing or lead writing role.
  • Strong programming skills in at least one popular programming language - .NET, C#, or Python.
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills.
  • Experience with content management systems.
  • Experience working directly with development teams.
  • Passion to thrive in a fast-paced, ever-changing environment.
  • A proactive mindset for resolving problems and delivering results.
  • Strong attention to detail and interpersonal skills.
  • Bachelor's degree in Computer Science, related discipline, or equivalent industry experience.
  • Preferred Qualifications :

  • Experience using Git and markdown.
  • Working knowledge of design patterns & ability to communicate the rationale underlying design decisions.
  • Experience with data, analytics, and content performance.
  • Azure or other cloud experience highly desirable.
  • Ability to meet Microsoft, customer and / or government security screening requirements are required for this role. These requirements include, but are not limited to the following specialized security screenings :

  • Microsoft Cloud Background Check : This position will be required to pass the Microsoft Cloud Background Check upon hire / transfer and every two years thereafter.
