Duties & Responsibilities

Facilities Engineer

This position will be responsible for maintaining the facilities operation including Mechanical and Electrical system management, management of contractors, budgetary control, space planning, support environmental, health & safety and security aspects to ensure safe and efficient operation of the Costa Rica facility.

The responsibilities will include developing and maintaining a close liaison with internal Business Units / operating departments and key internal groups including corporate EH&S, Corporate Real Estate & Facilities and Security etc.

to ensure that facility is maintained within company guidelines and local business needs.

Will also coordinate, supervise and manage all improvement work, renovation & construction projects.

General Duties

  • Interface with internal Business Units / operating departments regarding plant planning, office and production equipment layout, and strategic operational planning.
  • Will conduct the planning, design and supervision of construction of new or expanded facilities or site renovations and prepare cost estimates, specifications, construction plans and work schedules.
  • Interface with temporary and service contractors including janitorial, general maintenance
  • Support the development of the facilities CAPEX and OPEX budgets
  • Manage facility assets
  • Manage service Contracts
  • Responsible of implementing, follow and support site safety and security programs.
  • Basic Qualifications, Experience, Skills & Education Required

    Education / Training / Skills / Experience Required

  • Bachelor’s Degree in Facilities Management / Mechanical and / or Electrical / Engineering or other equivalent preferred
  • 2+ years of responsible facilities or management experience
  • Requires a well-rounded knowledge of industrial facilities
  • Communications skills - (English and Spanish) Must be able to communicate in verbal and written form sufficient to deal with all levels of the organization.
  • Previous budgetary oversight experience preferred.
  • Computer skills - Must be reasonable self-sufficient and able to use Lotus notes, Microsoft office, Autocad and other related PC programs effectively.
  • Good organizational and planning skills
  • Knowledge of Mechanical and Electrical system including HVAC (Heating, Ventilation and Air Conditioning),
  • Demonstrated analytical and strong troubleshooting skills, excellent safe work habits.
  • Position Subject to ITAR controls
