Duties and Responsibilities
This role will be expected to become one of Emerson’s subject matter experts in PWS security products, solutions and compliance.
The major responsibilities of the Cybersecurity Engineer I include providing technical support of Emerson PWS cybersecurity solutions to customers and internal Emerson PWS engineers;
as well as, effectively diagnosing and resolving Ovation product related issues, as necessary. Therefore, in addition to good interpersonal skills, the engineer should possess excellent technical troubleshooting skills and be familiar with PWS cybersecurity solutions, process control and basic power generation concepts.
Provide technical support for PWCS and Ovation software & hardware products.
Foster a positive environment for work and professional growth.
Work as a team player within the CCE to address basic customer cybersecurity questions and technical issues, and basic Ovation related inquiries.
Maintain or improve customer satisfaction through group and individual effort.
Manage and prioritize call records and workload; maintain accurate documentation of all support by utilizing the SMS database and other tools.
Coordinate technical support processes and call escalation between various support organizations.
Interface with Emerson Field Support Engineers, regional offices and expert resources as needed to resolve issues.
Perform base customer support activities as needed, including : Start-up and DCS commissioning at customer locations Consulting and assisting customers in development of cybersecurity plans and / or programs Providing NERC CIP compliance support services Performing vulnerability assessments on customer's control systems Developing assessment reports and suggesting mitigation / remediation strategies Implementing recommended mitigation / remediation strategies Developing Emerson’s cybersecurity best practices and whitepapers related to security solutions Installation, configuration and tuning of Ovation cybersecurity solutions
Continually and proactively increase one’s technical capabilities, growing and establishing higher levels of expertise.
Maintain product equipment, support labs, and group capital equipment.
Help to enhance the value of the Cybersecurity Center of Excellence by contributing towards additional group activities / tasks, developing new internal / external solutions, and assisting with training (as appropriate).
Qualifications
The position requires a Bachelor of Science Degree in Engineering, Computer Science or equivalent.
Must have knowledge of networking, cybersecurity appliances, applications, tools and techniques.
Knowledge of Ovation, and PWS cybersecurity solutions is desirable.
The position requires an advanced level of English B2 (additional languages are advantageous).
Possess advanced troubleshooting skills (i.e. diagnosing and resolving computer related issues).
The position requires good interpersonal skills and excellent oral and written communication skills in a formal environment.
The ability to work effectively with internal and external customers is essential.
