Job summary

Amazon Advertising is looking for a talented Quality Assurance Team Manager (QATM) with a strong testing and technical background and solid people management skills to build, manage and develop highly-capable and experienced quality teams in Costa Rica.

We're looking for a highly motivated, customer-centric leader that has a keen eye on quality as well as a strategic vision to transform quality testing and automation solutions.

The Test and Automation Services team (TAS) creates and executes innovative digital advertising campaigns across multiple platforms and countries.

The TAS team ensures these ads meet Amazon’s high bar for customer experience, and provides software testing & automation solutions to internal partner teams in the Advertising org.

As a QATM, you will have the opportunity to be part of a team working on advertising for Amazon.com websites, mobile and tablet applications, Fire TV, and Kindle Fire tablets.

Our TAS team works on behalf of millions of Amazon customers, ensuring that advertisements meet our high quality standards.

As a QATM, you would enjoy a fast-paced environment where you can obsess over customer, create and simplify QA solutions, and manage a team of QA Managers, QA Engineers and QA Techs that are delivering quality releases daily.

In addition to experience with building and leading successful test teams, we're looking for someone to drive advertising processes that minimize defect introduction, as well as creation and execution of testing procedures to uncover and troubleshoot defects that are present.

Key job responsibilities

The successful Quality Assurance Team Manager will be obsessed with customer experience, quality improvement, and challenge the status quo. In this role, you will :

  • Hire, manage, train, and lead a team of QA Managers, QA Engineers, and QA Technicians focused on advertising.
  • Oversee the development and execution of test plans and monitoring and reporting on test execution
  • Scope, create and maintain end-to-end test systems for new and unique ad types
  • Coordinate test approaches, test cases, and test methodology with remote teams
  • Ensure the quality of our advertisements exceed both advertising and shopping customers’ expectations.
  • Dive deep into our testing methodologies to transform manual quality process to highly automated quality solutions.

    You will be deploying your technical acumen and experience in driving the development of maintainable, reliable automation deliverables that would withstand the test of time.

    You will be working closely with senior leadership, product managers, RPA Engineers and highly motivated peers.

    BASIC QUALIFICATIONS

  • 3+ years of experience managing Quality Assurance Teams
  • 8+ year of industry experience in overall software QA / test experience, with at least 5 years in hands-on testing and 3 years experience as a people manager
  • Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science or equivalent combination of technical education and work experience
  • Experience managing automation & manual testers
  • Experience with QA methodology and tools, software testing standards, methods and conventions, and the product development cycle
  • Demonstrated skills with one or more mobile and web UI automation frameworks
  • 1+ years experience tracking programs across multiple sites (local and remote teams)
  • PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS

  • Strong project management skills, preferably with software testing or operations.
  • Strong people management skills with a proven track record in hiring, developing and retaining high performing talent
  • Strong organizational skills, ability to track multiple test executions simultaneously and synthesize the results
  • Ability to deal with ambiguity in a fast-paced environment where every change affects the experience of millions of customers
  • Strong focus on customer experience, curiosity about how things fit together and a passion for driving improvements to raise the overall quality level of our software and operations environments.
  • Creativity and initiative to improve the customer experience and advertising operations processes.
  • Good in communicating with technical and business leaders in advertising sales, campaign management, design, operations, developers, and technical leaders, even if they are remote.
  • Experience in operations and release management
  • Shows creativity and initiative to improve product test coverage and effectiveness
