As a Principal Product Manager (PPM) you will be responsible in helping to drive Volterra's product strategy and requirements.
You will be the market specialist listening to customer and prospect needs, analyzing market dynamics, and setting product direction.
As a PPM lead the complete product lifecycle from definition and introduction to end-of-life. In this role you will work collaboratively, driving strategic alignment within the organization, and communicate effectively to both internal and external audiences.
Develop requirements using a balance of future vision, near term opportunities, customer requirements, business acumen, and management of day-to-day product issues.
Engage with executives, business partners, channel, and end users. The position is dynamic and you should be comfortable with frequent multi-tasking among technical, business, strategic, marketing and planning activities.
Define overall vision and strategy for a product / solution, including target customer persona, customer value proposition, and business objectives
Own Product Lifecycle Management (PLM), including product planning / concept definition, Minimum Viable Product (MVP) definition (when is an offering good enough for launch?
ongoing release strategy, and ultimately product retirement. Work with program management to drive the logistics of the PLM.
Define capabilities and requirements for product / solution to align with overall vision and strategy; build and maintain a Market Requirement Documents (MRD) or equivalent, including a plan of Record (POR) / Roadmap
Work with engineering and associated functions (UI / UX) to bring clarity to requirements in order to facilitate a successful outcome and delivery.
Conduct market analyses and financial ROI analyses to advise product / solution roadmap and prioritize product backlog
In collaboration with Sales, Marketing, Legal, Agile Product Owners, and other stakeholders, drive decisions on backlog prioritization (e.
g., customer expectations vs. engineering realities)
Collaborate with Product Marketing, Sales, Corporate Marketing, Partners, and Customers, develop overall go-to-market strategy and plan, including packaging, pricing, and positioning
Create dashboards and metrics to monitor the performance of product / solution, based on pipeline, bookings, customers, etc.
Very high customer and partner engagement to receive feedback and handle critical issues
Overall accountability for the success of the product and business, creating internal visibility and business analysis for QBR’s and business reviews.
Knowledge, Skills and Abilities
BE proficient in areas of Security, such as Firewalls, Web Application Firewalls, API Protection and the defenses vital to identify and defend against Bot attacks and compromises.
Hands on experience with F5 or competitive products is required.
Knowledge of how encryption and PKI systems operate including certificates, CAs, forward and reverse proxy architectures and the mechanisms by which application loads are load balanced.
Understand the broad threat landscape that applications are typically exposed to and knowledge of how defense mechanisms work, such as signatures, behavioral malicious actor detection, mitigation strategies and the role that machine learning can play in defending applications from attack.
Strong customer orientation with the ability to listen, coordinate and champion key initiatives and projects for product development
Outstanding listener, great presenter, terrific interpersonal and communication skills with strong ability to influence people at all levels and in various functions

Typically requires a minimum of 10 years of related experience with a Bachelor’s degree; or 8 years and a Master’s degree or equivalent. MBA a plus
10+ years of demonstrated ability in product management or equivalent
3+ years related industry experience (enterprise networking, security, cloud service / products, IT operations)
4+ years analyzing products, customers and market dynamics a plus
