This position is a senior technical resource responsible for supporting the initiatives and programs that ensure continuous improvement of the reliability and operational excellence of company’s network.
The position acts as the technical expert and lead for junior personnel in the department and strives to improve customer satisfaction by developing and delivering processes, practices, tools, and metrics that support network reliability, operational excellence and overall service quality.
General Experience - Experience in IP Backbone Engineering for major telecommunications providers. Responsible for Juniper routers and switches, Cisco routers and switches, and Juniper routers in production VPN networks.
General Experience : Cloud Engineer with broad experience in Data Center Design and Support. Hardware and software background with focus on public, private, hybrid cloud, virtualization, hyperconverged Infrastructure (HCI) and data center design.

5+ years experience working for a Telecommunications Service provider in similar field with emphasis on Carrier Grade Reliability

Effective technical writing skills to facilitate strong documentation for technical concepts
Principal Duties and Responsibilities
Develops Engineering Packages for Device Specification and standards, Build of Materials (BOM) master and establishes Device "original configuration" master standards for field deployment
Evaluates configurations and network designs, and develops methods for proactive monitoring and trending.
Provide estimated costs associated with Network solutions for New Business Development initiatives.
Ensures detailed work plans, processes, and policies are of high quality and thoroughly documented including device Vendor Selection, device Port mapping, IP assignment, VLAN configuration, IP Address space management and DataCenter Space & Power planning
Lead and participate in cross-functional teams to implement approved reliability programs.
Develop, implement, and administer controls, policies, and procedures to ensure consistent and reliable network services.
Identifies and defines requirements for network tools and applications to assist in the development of project plans for network automation tasks and Capacity planning and forecasting
Leads efforts to improve the existing network architecture, monitoring tools and alarming capability and recommend changes to enhance quality of service.
Creates system design for network topology, routing, WAN and LAN protocols
Evaluates and tests New technology for Field Verification Office (FVO) for early deployments
Develops use case specification, performance, Acceptance testing criteria for preparation for deployment into production environments
Creates and maintains AS-Built Inventory, cable mappings, topology drawings, datacenter floor plans and logical network configuration
Maintains company Best Practices for network design and configuration
General Duties and Responsibilities
Utilizes feedback from internal resources, customers, vendors, metrics, outage reviews and audits to identify gaps in processes, policies, practices, tools and / or network architecture that cause risk to the reliability of the company’s network.
Participate in industry forums, technical user groups and technical symposiums representing Syniverse’s interests
Build interdepartmental relationships through effective problem solving, conflict management and resolution, team development, coaching and facilitation.
Develop and maintain positive working relationships with personnel within all departments (Sales, Product Management, Finance, etc).
Support departmental goals and objectives to ensure budgets and timelines are met or exceeded
Provides Technical expertise and consulting to internal and external customers.
