Primary Responsibilities :
Identify and research new and relevant technologies, companies and open source projects.
Evaluate targeted technologies for business, economic and technical applicability to multi-cloud architectures that F5 may adopt.
Develop strong, clear opinions about desirable market opportunity for F5 and large scale distributed system design patterns to employ.
Consult with F5 internal business and engineering groups making architectural choices for future product and services offerings.
Influence a range of external audiences using F5's Code Connects approach to listen, learn, and increase F5 thought leadership, credibility
Bring industry leading methodologies and help navigate changing technologies and upcoming trends.
Work closely with architecture and development teams to ensure hardware, software and product architectures are developed in line with the vision and future direction of the company.
Generate and promote new theories, concepts, principles and methodologies within a specialty area.
Travel : Domestic and International up to 30% (Subject to our Human First approach to safety regarding COVID-19 and guidelines published by governmental authorities by jurisdiction)
Knowledge, Skills, Abilities :
Experience building / operating application Infrastructure technologies such as container runtimes and container orchestration systems (Docker, ContainerD, Kubernetes, Pivotal, Google Kubernetes Engine (GKE), Amazon Elastic Kubernetes Service (EKS), Azure Kubernetes Service (AKS), application communications systems (gRPC, etc), data streaming and collection (FluentD, Kafka, etc.), and API gateways.
Familiarity with application client infrastructure : iOS; Android; browser architectures (Chrome; Firefox; Safari; IE);
mobile application development studios and SDKs.
Application Monitoring and Application Performance Monitoring, logging, tracing, telemetry, analytics, data capture, and visualization using Prometheus, Loggly, Prometheus, Jaeger, Graphite, Grafana, for example.
Application Data Management and data capture, global consistency, time-series databases using MongoDB; Cassandra, CockroachDB, kDB, SQL, NoSQL, Kafka, for example.
CI / CD tooling / life cycle using tools such as Jira, GitHub, Canary, Toggle, and Spinnaker.
Strong background working in Agile environments and with SRE methodologies.
Ability to understand and educate others on the economic pros and cons of various technical design options.
Ability to identify advantages and disadvantages of any programming model, framework, language when applied to a specific end user scenario, business problem or technical design.
Ability to communicate complex ideas clearly and simply.
Natural inclination to explore, prototype, and self-teach.
Domestic and some international travel up to 30%.

Bachelor’s degree in Computer Science or a minimum of 7 years of related work experience.
Advanced degrees and / or experience is a plus
