A successful tax exemption financial analyst is highly detailed and excited about innovation. This team member is critical to supporting our clients with tax exempt status.

The tax exemption financial analyst is accountable to prepare, maintain and reconcile all necessary tax exemption documentation.

The ideal team member is able to maintain the integrity of an existing process, yet is comfortable questioning how to refine that process.

This means identifying common delays in the process and digging in to find out the root cause of those delays, to then offer analysis-

based recommendations for process improvement and simplification.

Prepare Vendor Exemption Certificates

  • Partner with Indirect Tax team to prepare vendor exemption certifications on behalf of Thomson Reuters when we as a customer are eligible for tax exemption on specific products or services
  • Maintain Customer Exemption Certificates

  • Provide a quality assurance review of new exemption certificates entered by Customer to Cash teamValidate against Indirect Tax advice / research to ensure customer account set up and tax treatment is correctReview for completeness and accuracyApprove in the appropriate system
  • Prepare exemption certificates for qualified businessesWork with customer administrator to resolve customer account set up issuesPartner with Indirect Tax team to record the exemption in the tax engine
  • The following skills are required for success in this role :

  • Strong English language skills, both written and verbal
  • Excellent attention to detail and organizational ability
  • Clear and effective communication skills focused on excellent customer service
  • Ability to meet deadlines under pressure
  • Strong IT skills (e.g. Microsoft Office, potential use of automation tools)
  • Keen interest in partnering and building relationships
  • Excited about innovation
  • The following experience is desirable but not essential for success in this role :

  • Prior knowledge of tax regulations and nature of exemptions
  • Prior knowledge of rules for product and service-related exemptions
  • Bachelor’s Degree in Accounting, Finance or related discipline
  • Prior experience in Sales and Use Taxes
