The SQL Database and Server Administrator job responsibility is to proactively monitor and maintain SQL databases and Windows servers for Auxis’ customers using best practices processes and methodology.
Additionally, the resource is responsible for issuing resolution and capacity planning for the mentioned platforms.
It also includes the development responsibility based on Auxis customer’s business requirements as an on-going activity.
o SQL Server Maintenance involves recurring activities that are regularly performed to improve the performance, security, integrity and availability of the SQL Server based systems.
o Database monitoring involves the implementation of a 24x7 monitoring and alerting tools o It involves defining the initial monitoring and performance thresholds
o Regular review of database and log files, and management of related file space o Set up automated jobs (using DTS / SSIS packages) to perform object-
level maintenance tasks o Monitor success / failure status of SQL Agent jobs o Termination of resource-intensive and long-
running processes when required to avoid / minimize impact of slowdowns and failures (based on monitoring parameters) o SQL Server or Service restarts as needed based on criticality of performance degradation, or when system failures render server unavailable (based on monitoring parameters) o Data refresh / restores for the development environment with production data as required o SQL Server patch management as needed to keep current with SQL Server binaries o Database code promotions to QA (if available) and Production on a scheduled basis to minimize database / server downtime o SQL Server troubleshooting and issue resolution within the scope of the support agreement (infrastructure and SQL Server level) o Detailed investigation and resolution of root causes for performance degradation or high resource utilization (outside the scope of the normal support parameters) o Ad hoc query tuning as needed o SQL Server Agent job creation as needed o Review and optimization of database packages, stored procedures, views, objects, indexes, etc.
o Detailed documentation of the database environment and procedures (upon request) o Testing and validation of disaster recovery plan (if available and upon request) o Upgrades, enhancements and changes to the existing support environment o Other tasks and activities as required and requested

Skills and Experience
Bachelor’s degree in computer science or relevant work experience 1-3 years IT operation experience with strong understanding of database structures, theories, principles, and practices Experience running SQL in a virtualized and cloud (PaaS) environments Proven experience with the installation, maintenance, and upgrades of SQL Server Proven experience with data migration and data replication tools, technologies, and strategies SQL Management Studio, SQL Server Analysis Services, SQL Server Reporting Services, and Integration Services Advanced knowledge of reporting and query tools and practices Advanced knowledge of conceptual, logical and physical database design Experience with OLAP and OLTP MCSA SQL Server 2012 above
