3M is seeking a Tax Specialist for the Finance Global Service Center. This position will be located in Belen, Heredia as part of our Global Service Center in Costa Rica.

Primary Responsibilities include but are not limited to the following :
o Support SAP / OTD in existing country deployments, addressing issues with existing processes, providing subject matter expertise to local country personnel, and ensuring that controls are in place.
o Ability to understand the root cause of user issues
o Understand current SAP system configuration in order to resolve user issues or provide feedback on current process or transactions
o Understand the 3M supply chain model and has ability to communicate this when necessary to user groups
o Communicate with cross-functional teams to provide solutions
o Understand and maintain high level configuration in OTD and LCR applications
o Create change requests for tax issues and follow release processes
o Testing system processes or changes as required
o Training users on tax processes and maintain training documentation
Basic Qualifications :
I. Education and Experience
Good understanding of physical and financial supply chain flows, ICO, OTC and STP processes
Good understanding of Project Management / ERP deployment methodology a plus
Self starter, result oriented, sense of ownership and project leadership
Ability to work with cross functional and cross cultural teams
Proven ability to meet deadlines in compressed timeframes; ability to manage priorities
Minimum of 2 years relevant working experience in any finance function, preferably Tax, Accounts Payable or Intercompany.
Experience in shared service center / captive BPO and / or accounting / audit / consultancy firm is an advantage.
Bachelor level university / college degree or higher in Tax or Accounting is preferred.
Applicable professional certification (i.e., CPA) is preferred.
Thorough knowledge of theories / concepts and practices of Indirect Tax, particularly Canadian and U.S authorities.
Develops knowledge of tax related master data including material master, vendor master, and financial master data.
Develops knowledge of assigned area of responsibility and 3M / multi-national company (MNC) structure, organization, and business.
Develops knowledge of ALM QC testing application and 3M testing procedures.
Basic knowledge in SAP, HANA, Business Intelligence (BI) / Business Warehouse (BW) and other connected applications OneSource (Sabrix), Ariba, LCR Dixon, etc is an advantage.
Knowledge in Microsoft Office, Alteryx and other data analytics and collaboration tools.
Ability to communicate in written and spoken English.
III. Freedom to Act
Follows a variety of generally defined procedures under general guidance within disciplines of Indirect tax.
Works independently, although the scope for discretion is limited and the output is reviewed periodically while in progress.
The work priorities are defined with the manager / supervisor.

Handles inquiries of moderate scope and complexity.
Uses basic analytical skills to interpret information, examine variables, draw conclusions, and assess alternative methods.
Moderate problem solving may require the use of increased judgment to handle some variations in conditions of operations, making decisions based on selecting from alternative courses of action using greater adaptation to circumstances when necessary.

Interaction is focused on answering routine questions directly related to Indirect Tax, as well as exchanging factual information with an audience knowledgeable in the subject area.
