As Configuration Manager, you will define, implement, and shape Configuration Management and its processes for managing all Configuration Items (CIs) across Global IT.
In this role you will ensure the Configuration Management process is delivering the expected value and is being executed as designed to establish, maintain and improve the CMDB and the configuration management processes.
The Configuration Manager ensures Configuration Management and the CMDB has the required data regarding the technology used to deliver the Global IT Services, end to end.
They will, wherever possible, ensure the required data is gathered and updated automatically and validated by CI Owners for completeness and correctness.
The Configuration Manager will leverage a variety of tools (i.e. BMC Discovery, Atrium CMDB Normalization and Reconciliation) to effectively manage the data stored in the CMDB and ensure that it is trustworthy.
The CM will partner / collaborate with all internal and external service providers to ensure that they are able to track and manage the technology used to deliver their services end to end, including the relationships between technologies.
PROCESS AND SOLUTION LEADERSHIP AND GOVERNANCE 30% · Develop and maintain a consistent, effective, efficient, repeatable and cost effective Configuration Management strategy for Global IT.
Ensure adequate control, auditing and reporting on all Configuration Items. · Provide thought leadership and subject matter expertise for the CM processes and technology needed to ensure that the data in the CMDB is trustworthy.
Responsible for partnering with, enhancing, underpinning and influencing integration of CM and the other ITIL processes across Global IT and all our Providers (internal or external).
Responsible for ensuring that the data in the CMDB can be leveraged by Global IT and the Business when needed to assist in making sound business decisions and improving Global IT Operations.
Manage an efficient and effective Configuration Management Data Base (CMDB), upgrading tools and increasing scope as needed to meet new business objectives.
Independently reviews and evaluates data and information gained through multiple avenues and ensures that the best, most current and most accurate (correct and complete) data is stored in the CMDB.
Provide ownership and ongoing management of CM process and technology roadmaps. · Establish and implement standards at the services level by determining requirements (e.
g., client, regulatory, security, audit, contractual) on which the standards, improvements and new capabilities will be based and executed.
Define and utilize software configuration management tools to support configuration identification, control, reporting, and delivery of both internally developed and externally acquired software products.
Effectively communicate and convey to others, the vision and purpose of CM capabilities to internal and external personnel as necessary.
Connect process maturity and roadmap to end to end business processes for alignment and integration. · Set CM Process objectives and work with all internal and external Providers to deliver work with long-term impact on the Function over multiple geographies.
BUSINESS PARTNERING, AND RELATIONSHIP AND SERVICE MANAGEMENT 30% · Acts as strategic liaison to multiple BUs / Functions to ensure the multiple ITIL processes and systems support the business.
Assesses requirements and prioritizes them ensuring alignment with the Providers and across BUs / Functions. · Works with the Providers, strategic stakeholders, peers and leadership members to ensure Global IT solutions are implemented successfully.
Utilizes an expert knowledge of process & solution management practices to understand business / function requirements and evaluates and responds to local design needs.
Active participant and member on a team. Creates strategic relationships across a diverse, cross-functional global organization.
Works with the Providers on the implementation and training of multiple ITIL processes in the design and implementation so that multiple BUs / Functions are ready for go-live and / or executing the processes as designed.
Applies an expert knowledge of industry practices and standards specific to multiple ITIL processes to improve current practices across a moderate / large subset of the organization.
PROCESS AND SOLUTION MANAGEMENT, ANALYSIS, AND DESIGN 20% · Develops an expert knowledge of Global IT CM process and automation requirements and provides more complex business model design plans for development and deployment by the Provider.
Acts as strategic liaison between the Providers and BUs / Functions for the development and implementation of new systems, and enhancement of existing systems.
Collaborates with the Domain Leads, Region Leads, and Providers to define the future vision of the CM processes. · Create new processes to capture and manage CIs that are not yet contained in the CMDB.
Identify and drive activities that bridge the gap between the current state and future vision. · Monitor and report on CM process balanced scorecards.
Help create common function-specific performance measurement frameworks and track improvement against these metrics. PROCESS AND PROJECT EXECUTION, AND VALUE REALIZATION 10% · Drives the utilization of CM processes for and across all Global IT.
Advise Customers regarding CM strategies, tools, or processes at an enterprise level. · Collaborates with internal and external Providers on the execution of CM process implementation deliverables.
Ensure that the Configuration Management methods are approved and communicated to all staff in an appropriate amount of time.
Ensure all staff members are trained on and knowledgeable of the Configuration Management principles, processes and procedures.
Acts as a champion for the development, adherence, promotion, training, communication, and implementation for process designs within Configuration Management.
Ensure understanding of and alignment to process and operational expectations, performance, and changes with Operational leaders.
Oversee communication of processes and standards to the project teams for implementation. · Monitor, evaluate, manage and execute audit processes to ensure compliance.
Lead and implement process metrics to drive continuous improvements. OTHER DUTIES AS ASSIGNED 10% Required Qualifications · Bachelor's Degree in IT or Business Related field or equivalent work experience.
5+ years of IT and business / industry work experience. · 5+ years of direct program and project management experience with prior budget experience of $2M· 3+ years experience in a Configuration Manager lead role · Proven experience in process engineering and deployment methodologies;
ideally involving third party organizations. · Proven experience in operating an ITIL program and / or supporting an ITIL framework.
ITIL Intermediate training and certification (Configuration Management Process Ownership and / or ITIL Practioner in Configuration Management desirable) · Experience in an IT or IT focused business unit for a multi-platform, multi-location and multi-product company · Strong and thorough understanding of tools such as ITSM, Discovery and data management automation tools.
Proven experience starting up new services and processes. · Proven ability to analyze information systems and related technology processes;
infrastructure, operations, applications and service management. · Must possess a practitioner's knowledge of software development and production release methodologies.
Knowledge of IT operations process and technology (i.e. Windows, UNIX, Storage, DBA, networking etc.) · Ability to accomplish results through others (lower level managers, professional employees, matrixed organization, managed service provider).
Experience in development and management of IT technology strategy and roadmaps. · Effective conflict resolution skills.
Experience in vendor management. · Business fluency in English. · Ability to travel globally and regionally up to 25% Preferred Qualifications · Master's degree (MBA).
ITIL / ITSM Master / Manager certification. · Any process experience, six sigma certification will be an advantage · Experience in a large SAP environment.
Experience in operating within a large, global managed services framework. · Experience with multiple IT Infrastructure technologies.
Strong understanding of financials will be an advantage · Ability to analyze complex situations and implement solutions.
Work experience in multiple countries. · Contributor to an IT industry body or industry related major corporation advisory group.
