The primary responsibility of the role is to independently manage the day to day operations of a team or a set of diverse teams performing tasks related to a part of the Amazon catalog.
These tasks would be similar to tasks such as checking and / or fixing of Metadata, assessing the quality of product images, and auditing text that is descriptive of a product.
The role is responsible for managing a team of individual contributors.
The role will involve ensuring supervision and management of team performance and individual performance of the team members by tracking metrics, defining and improvement of productivity goals and quality standards, identify and resolve issues blocking productivity and productivity improvement, interact regularly and update stakeholders on status and provide visibility (within broadly defined guidelines).
The Operations Manager is required to analyze metrics and identify the trend of the team, identify concerns and opportunities for improvement and liaise with other team to resolve them.
It must also drive implementation of key operational excellence concepts such as lean, kaizen, six sigma in order to ensure continuous and lasting change.
The incumbent must be an expert in implementation of these concepts and must be able to inculcate an attitude for process improvement within his team.
The individual is responsible ensuring that the team performs at the required level of performance and meets all the SLAs defined and agreed on.
The position requires the individual to hire and develop the best as per the requirement of the team. In addition, the position will need to manage low performers in the team by building a development plan and providing regular feedback.
It needs to analyze demand and capacity and plan accordingly to ensuring that commitment misses and idle time are minimized.
The position must also ensure optimum productivity by working the most suitable team structures.
The individual will require clear and good communication skills, people management abilities, and leadership skills.
