The Finance Director, Operations will be responsible for providing the overall financial management of the Operations function and support the VP & GM of Manufacturing Operations and the regional Operations team.
This key finance leadership position will be expected to improve operational excellence by initiating and implementing actions to increase earnings and cash flow, actively participating in all key Operations initiatives.
This position will have overall responsibility for monitoring the financial performance, analyzing and interpreting operating results, investigating variances and unusual items and creating awareness of business issues and opportunities.
Responsibilities will include providing guidance to the Operations team on strategy in regards to operations, resource allocation, productivity, cash flow and capital expenditures.
The candidate should possess a combination of hands-on experience, strategic vision, and strong communication skills and be able to work in a flexible and fast-paced environment.
The position will work closely with the U.S. Corporate Finance groups (Accounting, Treasury, and Tax) in maintaining the accuracy and integrity of the company’s financial statements, internal controls, and business information systems.
This person will lead a team of finance, accounting and payroll professionals and will report directly to the Senior Director, Operations and Supply Chain Finance with dotted-line relationship to the VP & GM Manufacturing Operations.
This position will be based in Costa Rica.
In this role, you will
Partnering closely with the VP & GM Manufacturing Operations, lead the financial planning and analysis support for operations by developing robust process and scorecards to provide visibility to cost improvements and overall performance of Operations initiatives.
Develop financial models and analyses to support strategic and growth initiatives.
Influence business decisions via in-depth analysis and propose broad solutions and approaches to enable successful execution by the regional teams.
Provide insights and recommendations to drive results and business performance.
Manage the entire budget cycle (including AOP, quarterly plans, LE, R&O). Comply with Corporate requirements and provide consolidated Operation reporting and analysis.
Manage the Costa Rica accounting team in general accounting duties, including Payroll, and Fixed Assets. Work with team members to prioritize competing tasks in a demanding environment.
Provide technical accounting leadership, oversight and mentoring for the Accounting team.
Manage and develop the team through performance management, skills development, cross training and succession planning.
Ensure all payroll and bonus related accruals are recorded completely and accurately.
Work with business partners and vendors to ensure all transactions are recorded within the period they’re incurred. Ensure all journal entries are complete and accounts are reconciled.
Maintain Costa Rica’s books and records in accordance with U.S. Generally Accepted Accounting Principles, and provide for any additional Costa Rican statutory requirements.
Coordinate with external auditors in the preparation and the timely filing of both the Company’s consolidated audited financial statements and the subsidiary’s statutory financial and tax reporting requirements and other filings as necessary.
Implement and maintain an effective and efficient system of internal financial controls and maintain Sarbanes Oxley (SOX) certification.
Interact with Internal Audit and the independent public accounting firm on quarterly reviews and / or annual audit including SOX matters.
Review and evaluate accounting procedures for process and control improvements and implement scalable processes. Recommend modifications to existing processes and / or procedures as appropriate.
Maintain and update local policies to ensure compliance with Corporate Policies and recommend operational and / or control improvements.
Manage the building leases for the Costa Rica facilities and ensure all records and disclosures are handled and maintained properly and any related accounting entries are recorded properly and timely.
May be required to travel to the U.S. and other international locations.

EDUCATION AND / OR EXPERIENCE
Degree in Accounting or Finance; preferably MBA and / or CMA or CPA certification·
12-15+ Years of progressive finance experience with mid to large companies, preferably inclusive of both public accounting and multinational experience.
Manufacturing background with in-depth knowledge of cost accounting, standard costs, and financial reporting for a manufacturing organization
Recent experience in leadership roles in Financial Planning & Analysis required; hands-on experience with complex financial modeling
Proficient in general accounting under US GAAP and local statutory requirements.
Demonstrated knowledge of Costa Rican government free zone requirements and regulations.
Language : English fluency (required) written and verbal
Understanding of fully integrated ERP systems, such as SAP.
