Qualifications

  • Bachelor's degree in business, marketing, finance, social science or related field
  • 0-2 years of professional experience ideally with consumer expertise
  • Solid knowledge of industry / functional content (e.g. trends, industry players, forces at work)
  • Experience in a research-related position or in a CPG / retail company is a plus
  • Interest in the consumer goods / retail industry as well as business and economic topics
  • Superior analytical and quantitative skills; experience in the details of data manipulation and data visualization
  • Excellent problem solving capabilities
  • Strong project management skills with the ability to work with a diverse, distributed team
  • Organized, resourceful and able to prioritize among competing demands
  • Ability to interact effectively at all levels of a large global organization
  • Strong written and verbal communication skills in English and Spanish
  • Who You'll Work With

    You’ll work in a McKinsey Client Capability Hub in San Jose, Costa Rica as part of our global Capabilities and Insights team with the Consumer practice.

    You will work closely with leaders of the Consumer practice with a focus on marketing and sales / commercial topics. You will work with ongoing client teams and prospective client teams in developing and delivering world class knowledge and insights.

    You’ll also work with other practice and firm experts, specialists, researchers and analysts with expertise across the consumer sector.

    The consumer sector is one of the fastest growing and most dynamic industry practices at the firm. It includes both consumer goods manufacturing and retail.

    The sector operates as an integrated global group and has been outpacing firm growth for many years.

    What You'll Do

    You will have the opportunity to shape and implement the strategy and operations of the consumer insights and become a true thought partner to practice leadership and our client teams and potentially our clients directly.

    In this role, you will work with survey and behavioral data to identify trends in consumer behavior. You will analyze large data sets and interact with client teams to direct them to correct materials, customized where needed, and to collaborate with vendors for proprietary survey and third party data.

    You will also curate content for the Consumer Foresights center, creating Tableau and PowerPoint materials.
