The IT Sysadmin Specialist (Linux / UX) performs 2nd / 3rd level operations and system administration tasks. The position includes high added value tasks such as capacity planning and performance tuning, advanced troubleshooting (RCAs), automation of business as usual activity, and resolution of issues escalated from the 1st level support as well as major incidents or critical situations handling.
The IT Sysadmin Specialist (Linux / UX) follows in his / her daily job the ITIL best practices (DevOps desirable) and follows strict quality guidelines.
In this job you'll work as a member of a global organization, with a System administrator role (Unix experienced), team working with other team members in the main Roche’s locations and Data Centers globally :

The job in detail
Second / Third level support for Linux / UNIX servers (mainly RedHat Linux, SuSe SAP-HANA, AIX and HP- UX), including those tasks escalated from the 1st Level Support.
Perform configuration management on all environments and manage the production release process that ensures the reliability and availability of the platform
Advanced troubleshooting of problems related to operating system & hardware, and possible escalation to external vendors or internal engineering.
Administration of the internal infrastructure and tools used by the OS Support team (including Business Critical systems).
Monitoring of the capacity and performance of the UNIX / Linux infrastructure, optimizing the resources.
Participation in projects driven by the business as well as participation in projects driven by internal teams as engineering in order to define standards.
Follow, define & optimize standard procedures. Able to work out of office hours on a rotation basis and perform maintenance tasks during weekends when required.
Contributing in a definitive way to automate repetitive business as usual tasks and activities, with a mindset of gaining efficiency and reliability, helping the SysAdmin organization to reach IaC goal.
Technical and business oriented referent in the team. Able to provide a cohesive guidance to and with the team, at the same time that supports the management in complex situations.
Act as a mentor for junior team members
Acts as Subject Matter Expert on IT projects ensuring the right support is provided with regards to quality and in a timely manner
Acts as a technical reference for the rest of the team, as technical advisor on IT projects and as a Quality Assurance and IT procedures reference for the rest of the team.
Supports senior management in the contract requirements and management.
Accountable for ensuring documentation is produced and maintained according to defined standards. Acts as mentor for the rest of the team in documentation standards and quality that fulfill Roche regulations.
Qualifications and Experience
Bachelor's Degree in Computer Science, Engineering or related discipline or recognition of prior working experience which is equivalent.
Demonstrable minimum of 10 years of experience in remote administration of data center size environments with clustered Red Hat Linux (including Satellite systems management solution) and AIX (including PowerHA), essential HP UX desirable.
Knowledge and experience about Puppet and Ansible configuration management.
Knowledge and experience at Infrastructure As Code and Automation (Ansible, Salt, Jenkins, Foreman, logstash, GitHub, Bright, Grafana ) will be a must.
Desirable demonstrated experience with Windows and Backup (NetBackup, Networker, ) administration
Experience with mid & high -end SAN storage.
Experience with VMware or other virtualization technology.
Proficiency with scripting languages such as Python, Perl, Bash, Ansible, etc..
Experience in change management & documentation.
Knowledge of ITIL as a model for datacenter support.
Able to follow defined procedures & can define new procedures when required.
Able to be a team player in a dynamic & international team.
Able to travel from time to time.
Able to communicate effectively in written & verbal English.
Able to work on multiple tasks & projects in parallel.
