The National Instruments Global Trade Compliance Departmenthas an immediate opening for a Trade Compliance Engineer located in Heredia, CostaRica.
The successful candidate must be a strong individual contributor with theability to apply engineering knowledge to solve technical, regulatory, productclassification, and logistics challenges.
The successful candidate will collaboratewith other technical experts in the Global Trade Compliance Department toensure that NI remains in compliance with all regulations pertaining to NI’sproducts and systems.
Core Responsibilities :
Interact with branch and corporate TradeCompliance personnel to address routine technical import requirements (e.g.,cable voltage specifications and composition, power supply certifications,import classifications, import licensing or out of scope confirmation, etc.)
Collaborate on environmental compliance andresponsible supply chain projects
Propose and support implementations of continuous improvements actionswithin trade compliance systems and processes
Communicate with all levels ofemployees from entry-level to directorsacross time zones in the Americas, Europe and Asia and mayrequire occasional travel to support NI’s international business.
Classify NI’s products under the US and internationalimport and export classification schemes (e.g. US Export AdministrationRegulations (EAR), MY Strategic Trade Act, US HTS, KR HTS, IN CTH, etc.)
Collaborate on product compliance (electromagneticcompatibility, safety, radio, and encryption) projects to facilitate the importand sale of NI products worldwide
Manage order processing by identifying and closing tradecompliance elements required to ship NI’s products
Liaise with the Product Partner Program group to ensure allapplicable trade compliance requirements are addressed prior to partnerproducts being made available through NI’s sales channel
Bachelor's degree in STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering or Math) from an accredited Institution
Ability to read and understand technical specifications of highly technical items
Proficiency in verbal and written English
Demonstrated proficiency with Microsoft Office (Excel, PowerPoint, Word)
Excellent written and verbal communication skills in English
Prefer experience in a high-tech or electronics manufacturing company
Prefer Bachelor of Science in Engineering
Experience and proficiency ERP applications; PLM applications
Ability to detect gaps and implement the needed solutions
Ability to effectively multi-task
Strong attention to detail
Ability to thrive in a global, multi-time-zone team environment
Track record of initiative to undertake additional responsibilities
Experience classifying items under the US and international import and export classification schemes (e.g. US Export Administration Regulations (EAR), MY Strategic Trade Act, US HTS, KR HTS, IN CTH, etc.) a plus
Foreign language skills are a plus (especially Portuguese)
